This month has been a whirlwind y’all. I was telling a co-worker everything that has happened and he said that while he knew it was all true it sounded way too much like a soap opera to be someone’s real life. We’re a little dramatic around here y’all.
Of course, we had THREE TIRES POP in a span of four days so you’ll just have to believe me when I say… this month has been crazy! The worst part? One of those popped tires was on our brand new car… well brand new to us. The tires were brand new though! We still had the receipt where the previous owner had just replaced them! The tire is fixed now though and we are loving our new little get around car.
The hubs drives an hour to work and an hour home every day so we needed something with great gas mileage and when his old car was totaled we saw our chance. The new car gets 40 miles to the gallon on the highway between our house and his work… and the entire tank only costs $15 to fill up! That’s a miracle compared to my Epedition! That thing eats gas y’all, it’s no joke. Luckily my work is 3 miles from our house.
Anyways I’m getting off on a tangent.
This month was my favorite blog month of the year.. because it was time for HAVEN! I shared a fun recap when I got back so you can see how much fun I had and all. the. swag. It was definitely a blast! After Haven I hurried home and decided to finally start my little video project. I’m going to film a weekly re-cap video each week!
I’ll let y’all know what’s going on project wise and what we’re doing around the house. I’d also love to answer your questions so make sure to hop on over to the YouTube channel and leave a few questions for next weeks video!
In the meantime let’s look back at July!

5 Easy Tips to Organize the Space Under Your Kitchen Sink
Of course, the first step in organizing the cabinet under the sink was to clean the space under the kitchen sink! Until we installed our new faucet during our kitchen makeover I didn’t realize quite how nasty it was under there yuck.
15 Farmhouse DIY’S ANYONE Can Do
I spent last weekend working on a fun mood board for my cousin… that goes a little outside of my wheelhouse. It was fun but now it’s time to get back to basics with a few fun and easy Farmhouse DIY’s! I love the farmhouse look and definitely incorporate it into my own personal eclectic kind of style (hint: I own the same dish towels used in the first DIY! See? They’re hanging on my stove in my kitchen makeover!).
5 Organizing Hacks that LOOK Like Decorations
I have been in a real cleaning, organizing, geteverysinglesufaceinshape mode this summer! Which is awesome if you’re my bathroom or kitchen but as I finish room after room I realized I’ve started to run out of spaces to organize! Which means I’ve started to move on to the little spaces and instead of making over the big spaces I’ve been working on organizing hacks that look like decorations.
Form and function baby, that’s my favorite!
5 Functional Steps to Organize Your Office
If you caught my very first video last week then you know we are working on the office! I wasn’t sure how this room would come together when I started but it’s come so far since the beginning. Instead of a room full of mismatched furniture we are starting to build a functional space for the hubby to work… even if it isn’t quite as masculine as he would like!
Episode 1: Haven, Office, New Videos
Can you tell that this is my very first video?? Honestly y’all we’ve got a long way to go… but at least we started! I love blogging but this year I’m committed to a little more chit chat between you and me. I want this to be a community and that doesn’t work if I’m talking to myself!
So every week I’ll be recording a little video and sharing what’s going on in my little corner of Alabama. Of course, I answer y’alls questions every single week in the newsletter but I’d love to answer a few questions here as well!

Quick and Easy 5 Minute Sugar Scrub (and FREE Cricut Labels!)
I’ll just start this little post by saying that I’m not an expert sugar scrub maker! This was actually my first time whipping up a batch… but it was easy enough that I’ll be making more pretty quickly. I’m actually pretty impressed with my little creations.
The best part? This big batch of sugar scrub is the perfect solution if you need to whip up a bunch of presents at once… made a double batch for Mother’s Day so that all the Mama’s in my life had a sweet little gift. Then I forgot to put half of them in the mail so I’m not exactly winning at life… but it’s the thought that counts right?
10 Creative Ways to Use Tassels
When I was doing a bit of searching for my fun blush and rose gold nursery mood board I discovered the magic of tassels. I have seen them before… I think everyone has in kindergarden! Kidding, just kidding! This was the first time I really fell in love with how pretty a full fabric or yarn tassel could be!
Of course, I don’t want to wait until I have a baby of my own… that could be a while! So I thought I’d look for a few ideas we could use now to fufill my tassel dreams. I even have the perfect spot in a wall gallery on my living room wall! I think I’m going to use a few fun colors and my Cricut to spell out Smith.
How to Add a Picture Hanging Kit to an Old Frame
This is the simplest project ever. Really it’s hard to even call it a project except that it does take a few minutes to assemble! My Mom has an interesting habit of picking up amazing frames at a great price from discount stores like Goodwill or Salvation Army… so I’ve needed to add quite a few picture hanging kits to old frames!
This particular frame was not picked up by my Mom though… instead my bestie Rachel found it and painted it for our wedding program. We wanted a large program at the front of the church instead of a million paper copies handed out and this way we get to keep it forever and ever and ever!
