Y’all this was my sophmore year at Haven DIY and Home Decor Blog Conference!!! So this is my Haven Recap 2017! Which is my fancy way of saying this was my second year going! If you’ve been here a while you may have seen my recap after last year’s Haven but either way this years conference was soooo good!
I met so many new people and ran into so many old friends! Last year I went into the conference only knowing a few people and not having met any of these people in person. This year it was soooo much fun to meet up with the people I met last year and see where the last year had taken us! We talk online but it’s not quite the same as sitting down to chat about life face to face.
The other major difference is that this year the hubs stayed at home and I was able to stay at the hotel with a few roommates! I was very blessed that my birthday present from my dad this year was my portion of the hotel fee… so I could enjoy my stay without worrying about bills and budgets!
I always forget to snap photos of the vendors but I did grab a shot of the opening stage and the Liberty Hardware booth with an interesting addition… a man painted all in gold. I forgot to snap a picture of him over the weekend but I saved one off Instagram… unfortunately I can’t remember who from!
So if that is our photo of a gold man let me know and I’ll give you all the credit!!! Or delete it… but it was too much fun not to include.
Update: Looks like Trisha from Rosewood and Grace took the photo of the gold man, check out her Haven Recap too!
The last photo up above is my mentor group! This year’s mentor group was so much fun! We had a blast talking about what we learned and which sessions were good to attend.
Just take a look at my first concrete project!! I may be ready to take on concrete countertops at our next house… are you up for that Quikrete?
Yes that’s a darth vador head made of concrete.
Concrete y’all.
I don’t know about y’all but I neeeeeed a barn door! I mean I reallllly need one!
If you follow along in my newsletter you might remember me talking about my home right sprayer a few weeks ago but here’s photo proof that I can spray this bad boy! It was fun to actually get a few photos of the process since I’m usually doing these projects at home.
I mean look how happy I am to show off my mason jar! I’m gong to do a quick project in the next few weeks with my Cricut to spice it up a little. Should be fun!
Also, my hair is soooo frizzy in Atlanta. Humidity y’all. Next years Haven is in Charleston so we’ll see what my hair looks like there!
Beth’s Lightroom Class is the one class I missed last year and reallllly regretted. So it was first on my list this year! Can I mention two things here? I am in love with my little laptop. Last year I didn’t have one and it made life so hard… this year was so much easier to take notes and follow along with classes.
Of course, the one thing I learned above all others this year is that I have to get a move on with video. So I came home sat down and filmed my first video. It was late, the lighting was off, I’m still figuring out my intro… but you know what? It’s done.
I am so proud of that!
Now… on to the swag!
I cannot wait to jump into this hand lettering book… it’s going to be a-m-a-zing! I couldn’t resist buying a copy after her hand lettering class and I think I’m really going to enjoy going through it. I’ve been working on learning hand lettering over the last few months by watching YouTube videos but this will be so much better!
Until next year!
