We recently took a trip to Atlanta to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary, woot woot! The entire weekend was absolutely amazing… except for one teeny tiny little detail. The bed was hard as a rock! Instead of sleeping in and relaxing my hubby and I were up at 9am each morning… ready to face the day instead of spending one more minute in that horrible bed! We have worked hard to make our bed at home super soft and inviting… take it from us and try these ten tips to make your bed extra comfy cozy!
Place an extra comfy rug underneath your bed… stepping out of bed onto a luxurious rug is the best feeling! It made all the difference in our room, our extra plush rug is so wonderful on the tootsies!
Use lots of cozy layers! Knitted blankets are soooo warm and cozy! Plus they keep in the warmth on those cold winter nights.
(Surprise addition… people keep asking about the gray and white striped curtains in the picture above! Obviously they’re the design stylings of homebyheidi.com but if you’re in the market for thick gray and white striped curtains here are a couple options I’ve found recently: dark gray stripes or light gray stripes!).
Add a super fluffy faux-fur throw to the top of your covers! The fur will add a bit of Hollywood glam to your look… plus it will be super comfy!
Pick a gorgeous bedside lamp… that you can easily reach from the bed! This way you’ll never again have to leave your comfy cozy nest to turn off the overhead light… just reach over and switch off your lamp!
Make your bed NEATLY every day… how wonderful does a neatly made bed feel? Don’t forget in your haste to start the day each morning! Plus when your bed is made you have a chance to see your gorgeous bedding!
When in doubt, ADD PILLOWS!!! At least two on each side but I tend to like A LOT more… let’s just say use a plentiful number. Two pillows (each) for sleeping, two euro pillows, two shams, and at least one decorative pillow. It’s like sinking in a cloud! I love clouds.
Buy, make, barter or steal a headboard AND foot-board! A real bed frame will make your entire room more regal… extra points for tufted goodness! The fabric will be warm and luxurious!
For a bit of privacy try a gauzy canopy, then you’ll really feel like your bed is a private palace! Plus a gorgeous canopy can add a fun whimsical element to a room… love it!
Last but not least add a fuzzy baby or two to your cozy bed! A fur baby will definitely keep you warm… and maybe even purr on your toes!

We spent time in Atlanta for our first anniversary too (though that was 2 years ago haha). We just came back from the beach and it was wonderful, but our bed was hard as a rock too. Such a bummer!

There is notning worse than a rock hard bed on vacation. However, for your own bed, it is definitely not complete without a comfy down comforter.

I so agree with you Shonda! A vacation just isn’t complete without a big pile of cloud to sink into! A down comforter is a must have at home… one day we will own one again!

I love love love having a whole bunch of pillows on my bed. Every time my two kids come over (aged 35 and 41!!!!) they just jump into the pillows – they love the comfortable feeling….now the grandkids are old enough to jump on them and join in….and they bring their 100 lb fur baby too!!! She loves to hide under my covers and plays peek a boo with me!! Enjoy the luxury because when the kids start arriving…….lol!!

There’s nothing like climbing into a big, fluffy bed. Soft sheets, plush pillows, a gigantic furry throw , these are the things that make all of the hard work I do during the day worth it.

Really a true discussion and wonderful explanation. A good bed leads a good sleep and a good sleep lead a well and refreshing day. A night can become the comfort of using the pillow during sleep.
