Remember when I told y’all that we would have to be moving soon? Well the call finally came through! It’s official! In fact as y’all are reading these words I am at my new store… working my first day! Last Monday my district manager called with the news that we would be making the move to Andalusia to start my new job as Assistant Manager.
Didn’t see that one coming did ya?
If you’ve been following along you know that we thought we were going to Montgomery. Nope. Change of plans. Oh and the timeline?ย One week.ย One week before I had to be in Andalusia ready to report for work. Of course that’s way too soon to move our entire house… but that’s coming next.
We spent Saturday in Andalusia looking for houses. I love our house so much that I convinced myself that if we had to move we would at least move up (house wise). I wanted a bigger closet and a bigger bathroom! That would make it all better!
It’s not looking good folks.
Andalusia looks like a sweet little town with just enough modern comforts to not be out in the boonies… but not enough stores to get us in trouble.
We won’t be going on any shopping sprees around here y’all.
There weren’t too many houses to look at and one was so horrible I didn’t even take pictures… just turned around and got out as fast as I could! Otherwise there were two options I could live with.
The first one was a big while house with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The inside was definitely workable… I liked the tile floor and the large master bedroom. The downside? It was in a semi-sketchy side of town (yes that’s a thing)… and after our tour the realtor let us know that pets were an absolute no-go… so this one turned out to be a fluke.
The second house turned out to be in great condition… a three bedroom one and a half bath with a fenced in yard. I took horrible pictures of this one so y’all will have to forgive me. It has a large extra room (that I forgot to take pictures of!) so we would use that room for the living room and turn the living room into our office.
We ended up putting an application in on the second house… hopefully that means we’ll get better pictures for you once we’re accepted! My mind was just frazzled when we did our walk through… I didn’t even get a shot of the master bedroom!
This next week or two is going to be crazy with all the stress of packing, moving and working a new job. Luckily I know several amazing ladies who have agreed to guest post this upcoming week… so y’all won’t miss a beat during this move! Make sure to make them welcome won’t you?
Thanks for understanding… I can’t wait to show you our new house… UNPACKED!
PS Thank you to all of you sweet readers who remembered my hubby’s and my first wedding anniversary yesterday! We had an amazing day despite all the moving… here’s to a lifetime more!
We will pray for you to find just the right spot and for it to go well. Moving is hard… Military family here… ๐
Thank you for the prayers Cheyenne. I grew up military so I’m use to moving… but now the civilian way! I’m use to the packers coming in, boxing it up and taking it all away! Now we have to pack it all ourselves? No bueno! Haha… it will all work out in the end!
Congrats on this newest part of your adventure! Praying God opens up the perfect new home!
Thanks Jen! God was definitely looking out for us… we ended up getting the second little house with the green kitchen. It’s not perfect but it will work and at least the looking is over!
Keeping my fingers crossed on that house for you! Moving can be so hard, especially when you have to leave something or somewhere that you love so much! But I’m sure that you’ll make that new space your own in no time. ๐
Thanks Justine! Your crossed fingers must have worked because we got the second little house… the one with the green kitchen. My mind is already whirling with how we are going to fit everything in their new spots!
yay, moving is crazy and exciting, hope you get the house you want ๐ and congrats about your anniversary!
Thanks Megan! Our anniversary was wonderful… moving is still stressful! Haha, that’s how it goes though! In a week or two it will all be over!
Moving is always such a frustrating time, I hope you have a quick move and goes smoothly!
Thanks Sam! Quick and painless… that’s the hope!
We’re looking at houses now, too! One that we really wanted is already under contract by another person, we were super bummed when we found out but now I know we weren’t meant to live there ๐
Praying for your transition! I’m looking forward to seeing pictures! (I’m also trying to be positive about our future packing/unpacking that we will have to do :))
That’s so stressful! Even if it’s not meant to be it really sucks! We ended up getting a house I’m not in love with because it accepts pets… we will make it work! Keeping my fingers crossed that you find a place you love!
How exciting! You’re definitely a lot more calm than I would be! It looks like you’re definitely about to be on an adventure!
I don’t know if calm is the right word… there have definitely been a couple hissy fits! But there’s nothing we can do about it! The move is happening… I might as well get on board! Thanks for stopping by Ashley!
Oh gosh, moving on such a short notice is extremely stressful! All the best for you ๐
Tell me about it! I hate the idea of packing up and leaving… and we’re already halfway through the process! Thanks for stopping by Kat… hopefully it will get better from here!
Congratulations! And how exciting yet tiring. ๐ I can’t wait to read more.
Definitely tiring! I fall asleep at the drop of a hat these days… it will all be over soon! I may even have a few more moving posts up my sleeve before this is all over!
Good luck! Moving is so stressful but it is fun to get a new start!
Thanks Amanda! I think you’re right… the town we are moving to seems to have a great community. It will be fun to get involved in things again! I can’t wait until we are unpacked in our new house… then we can focus on the fun part!
I love looking for houses but I’m not a fan of the actual packing and moving process! Haha! Praying for you for safe travels <3
You are so right Taylor! Sometimes my mom and I stop at open houses just to look at the house! That is definitely the fun part! Packing? Not so much!
WOW! Talk about overwhelming! It sounds like you’re handling it really well and good luck!
Thanks for stopping by Ashley! You’re so sweet! I just have to keep reminding myself that it will all be over in a couple of weeks and we can get back to normal!
Good luck house hunting – I’ve been there, and it can be stressful!! Happy anniversary!
Thanks Meg! You’re such a sweetheart!
Congrats on the promotion! I hope you can find a Bigger house for your family – bigger closets are always a must! ๐
Tell me about it! My hubby is just hoping his clothes might make it back in the master bedroom closet… he’s been using the guest room in our current house! It’s not looking good though!
WOAH, girl… you have a lot of things happening in your life right now!
First of all: Happy anniversary! I hope that despite the frantic pace of life lately you were able to do something to celebrate together.
Also , wow… okay as someone who HATES to move, I have to admit your post gave me some wicked anxiety, LOL. I wish you all the best of luck during this move, transition, and as you ease into the new job situation ๐ Keep us posted and can’t wait to see pictures. The second home looks lovely!!
Thank you for all of your sweet words! I can’t wait to SHOW you pictures! Because if I’m showing you pictures that means it’s DONE! Hahahaha! Hopefully life will calm down a little soon!
good luck with the move!! ๐
Thanks Claire! It’s going ok so far… or that’s what I tell myself anyways!
This is great news! I wish you all the best! Andalusia sounds like a very cute and pretty little town! ๐
Thanks Anna! So far the town seems so friendly… I can’t wait until we are unpacked!
