My house is COMPLETELY tiled, the entire floor, every room. That’s great for clean-up… messes are easily wiped up and taken care of! However, it means my tootsies are ALWAYS cold. Which I absolutely hate… if I could curl up in a ball of warmth and just be wheeled around… that would be the life! So when I first found out we were moving into an all tiled, super cold house I owned exactly one rug. It was a 5×7 that I bought on sale for my tiny apartment sized living room.
Although it’s a lovely rug, it just wasn’t big enough for any of our larger rooms. So it was slotted for the guest room (where it’s still rolled up since the guest room is now the equivalent of a storage shed #dontrushmeIamworkingonit) and I started looking for rugs EVERYWHERE. Basically it was a month straight of rug searching. I got really lucky when I found the large Moroccan styled trellis rug for our living room ($99 for a 8×10! Plus my father-in-law bought it as a birthday gift! yay!). Then I hit the jackpot when I found the perfect blue and cream zebra rug that now resides in my office! I had been searching for a blue and cream zebra rug for years (don’t ask me why, I just wanted one!) but every single one I found was always a) too expensive or b) the wrong color. This one was under 100 bucks and the perfect color! I was on a rug buying high and my mission was successful!
The only drawback was that in all of my searching I had found one rug that stood out against the rest. It was perfect. It was gorgeous. It was absolutely positively the most beautiful rug I had ever seen… and it was way too expensive! I first saw it in Centsational Girls living room and it was love at first sight. I knew it would look absolutely amazing in our master bedroom… I just had to have it! I showed it to my best friend and she completely agreed! My mom of course thinks I’m crazy and shouldn’t have so many rugs… but I rationally (ok irrationally) ignored her and moved on in my quest for rug happiness. I decided to wait until we could afford the rug of my dreams and leave the master bedroom naked. No rug. Sad. It was not a good feeling. I tried a little throw rug next to the bed but it just didn’t cut it. Which is why my excitement absolutely could not be contained when I received my dream rug for Christmas! Eeeek! I think I might have screamed!
It took three weeks shipping to get here from Joss and Main but when it did i could hardly contain my excitement. My hubby called to tell me it had arrived… I think I flew home that evening… my excitement was that great! It’s rolled out in the room now and I think it looks absolutely amazing! The website calls it a pale grey/cream but after reading many reviews I knew to expect a light blueish color. Even though this room would look better with straight grey I love the rug to much to care. Light blueish grey it is! Plus it does look more grey/teal in our room then in the photos from Centsational Girl so I suppose it takes on a bit of the room around it. If we were to place it in the living room it might be a completely different color.
In addition to being amazingly warm on the tootsies it is just about the thickest rug I have ever owned. I don’t know numbers or fractions of an inch but this thing is stacked! Even without a rug pad it is cushy comfy. It definitely adds a luxurious feel to the bedroom that wasn’t there before. A rug really pulls a room together and this one is no exception! My favorite part is how the large scale medallions play off of the smaller medallions on the curtains. I always try to include the same pattern in several places in a room, it helps to move the eye! The difference in scale helps to balance out the pattern, yet they are completely cohesive! Don’t you love it when a plan comes together like that?
While we are in the bedroom I’d like to point out the adorable little box I found at Michaels. I was searching for boxes for my office closet (don’t worry I’ll share the closet later this week) and I found this little box! It really is the cutest thing! A teal lid, white Parisian typography and blue mason jars? It was right up my ally… I just couldn’t leave it behind! It needed me! This little one was the smallest size in a three part set… so I did resist the other two boxes! Aren’t you proud of me? I knew I could find a place for this one however so home it came. It adds a fun layer of dimension to my bedside table… and offers a great storage solution for my diaries. They were starting to overflow from the storage inside the beside table! Problem solved!
I will leave you with this picture of my adorable little yorkie… who tried her best to photo bomb every single picture I took today! She was only outed once when her sister snuck into the shot. Silly girls! That’s why I love them!
