Last year I shared how much I absolutely adore all things blush… and you all know how much I love gray. It’s kind of the perfect paint color (especially sherwin williams light french gray… it’s kind of my jam)… but this year poised taupe is where it’s at.
With the downfall of beige in the last few years everyone has been falling in love with gray… it was everyone’s favorite new neutral. Don’t get me wrong gray is still hugely popular (heck it’s one of the main colors in my new kitchen makeover) but where do all of the beige lovers go?
To taupe! They migrate from beige to it’s slightly grayer cousin taupe. It’s the perfect mix of beige and gray… not a true beige but warmer than gray. It’s a gorgeous color and this year it’s Sherwin Williams Color of the Year.

The interesting part of the whole scenario is that while taupe is a huge seller at the store we typically find customers reaching for tony taupe or even greige… we rarely sell the coveted poised taupe! I can’t wait to see how it plays out in the upcoming year.
In the meantime let’s take a look at all the pretty rooms that have already been painted in poised taupe:

I used it in my bathroom remodle and LOVE it. Im wanteing to paint our living dining room but my colors have a lot of maroon, does maroon go with it?
Happily Ever After, Etc. says
Megan,
I would test a sample simply because poised taupe tends to lean purple and maroon will only pull even more purple out! That may be exactly what you’re going for but I’d paint a sample on the wall first to make sure, good luck!

I bought a milk paint that was very grape, with a little grey. I loved it! I kept looking for something with a bit more grey to paint my kitchen cabinets. I have a tiny gallu kitchen with ech end wall painted a very dark purple. The long walls are a very buttery yellow. I love pansys, but didn’t want to be too literal! I want to spiffy up my cabinets with some primed MDF because right now they’re just playing birch cabinet fronts. I am trying to do as much to my kitchen as I can for less than $100. It’s a challenge to make a huge impact for $100 or less. I’m doing new countertops, new backsplash, new floors and new cabinet fronts all for less than $100! LOL and I’ve got a plan! And I’ve already got all the materials so I know it’s going to work. All I need is paint so… I think I’m going to buy this Posie taupe! If I wanted to lean a little more grape I’ll just put a drop or 2 of purple paint in it! I’ll probably add some calcium carbonate, so I can shabby chic them some too! Oh, the fun!!! I’m doing fake wood floors with brown paper from Amazon… I’ve got a strip of left over vinyl from a friend to practice on first. Lol I’m no dummy! Hehe!
