A few years ago I spent a couple hours predicting the the most popular neutrals for 2016 based on the best selling colors of 2015! I know… smart right? We’ll predict where we’re going to by analyzing where we’ve been.
With that in mind I’ve rounded up our 13 most sold neutral colors from the good old Sherwin Williams to see where the trends are taking us! Last year was A LOT of gray and a little beige, according to the polls (the interweb, customers and sw itself) the new year will bring even more Taupe and Greige then ever before.
I mean Sherwin Williams has picked Poised Taupe as this years Color of the Year! What do y’all think? Is it going to make it? I’m working on a post all about the Poised Taupe at the moment but in the meantime let’s take a look back over the most popular 13 colors of last year.

i have a stone fireplace with darker wood mantle and darker pine cabinets. My current color which has a yellow undertone makes everything look “dirty” to me. My floors are oak so kinda a yellow tone. I picked accessible beige for my entire downstairs ranch. open living room/kitchen then dining room and hallway. bedrooms and bathrooms have color but you can’t see from the rest of the house.
to me I thought this new color looked very grey but i’m wondering if I should just roll with it and it’ll look good when done. My other color thought was natural linen or kilm beige (by SW also) but the kilm beige gives off a yellow tone like what I have. currently i have gobi dessert by behr.
any thoughts on this, very stressed as i’ve been here 20 years and this is the 2nd time painting ?
white trim throughout and white ceilings

Janet, It sounds like you have quite the project on your hands! Honestly it just depends on what direction you’re trying to take. If you’re looking to get away from the “dirty” feeling that comes with yellow undertones I would stay away from Kilim Beige which is a very gold beige. Accessible Beige definitely leans more to the gray side (which I love and pairs nicely with darker woods… It will help your oak floors to look a little less honey or yellow) If you’re not sure on the gray Natural Linen is a great neutral that typically doesn’t turn yellow. Perfect greige is another warm neutral that leans a little more gray but still has beige undertones. Good luck!!!

Accessible Beige is totally dependent on lighting. VERY gray in less light, more beige in bright light. Looks like totally different color. Tried a large sample in separate rooms and was startled by the results. Had been convinced it was my “perfect color”. So glad I tried it out on sample boards first!
