New House Search with Happily Ever After Etc

New House Search

Hey y'all

So nothings official but unofficially it looks like we’re moving! Yay? I always knew it was a possibility with my new job but I was seriously hoping that it didn’t come to actually switching houses. Boo. Unless something big changes it’s looking like we will be moving to Montgomery somewhere around the month of May.

The main drag in moving is having to leave our 3 bedroom, 2 bath house with the great living room, largeish kitchen and amazing FENCED in backyard… in our budget! I mean really what are the odds that we will find such an amazing house a second time?! I’m completely skeptical :(.

The only redeeming quality is that Montgomery is about an hour away from Troy where my hubby is working on his RN degree. So if we can find a house in between Montgomery and Troy we will each have a 30 minute commute… which wouldn’t be terrible.

The problem?

Yup there’s nothing there. Plus the first search is for any houses for rent… take a look at the map when you place filters on the search such as: 3 bedrooms, kitty cats and puppy dogs, under $1000 a month (and that’s pushing it, we pay $675 right now and would like to stay around there), and HOUSES.

We’ve lived in an apartment for the past 3 years so unless there is absolutely no other option I would really prefer not to live in an apartment… ever again. I really really enjoy having a backyard… I like to open my backdoor to let my little sassy pants go potty! Climbing three flights of stairs for every potty break is for the birds.

So unless we find a great house in the middle… we might just end up in one town or the other, with a killer commute for one of the other. Bummer.

So I’m keeping my hopes up that we will find an amazing house… just the right size at just the right price! If we look in Montgomery here’s my favorite option from my online new house search…

3 beds 2 baths 1,838 sqft

It’s $995 a month which is higher than we really want to pay… but when the houses going for $750 look like crack houses it may be a valid option. The listing describes an open floor plan, separate dining area, large bay window, plenty of cabinet space, 12ft ceilings, fireplace, double vanities and extra large garden tub. Plus there’s a walk-in closet and a fenced in area which we all know is important!
Our second favorite house is also in Montgomery… Troy’s not looking good folks. Unfortunitally it only has one bathroom but the rent is much more affordable, we’re looking at $710 here which is way closer to the right ball park!

3 beds 1 bath 1,200 sqft

This is a super cute craftsman bungalow in the middle of Montgomery… it has hardwood floors which is absolutely amazing… while we would like to have 2 bathrooms there’s only the two of us. So technically we could make do with one bathroom… if it would be a bit tight when we had overnight guests. This little house has updated bathroom, kitchen, new light fixtures, refinished hardwood floors, fresh paint, sits on a shady lot and has a large front porch for relaxing.  We like relaxing 🙂
Of course both of these houses will be gone in May… so although we’re starting to look now it may be a while before we find the house we’ll actually end up in. Or my boss might decide to move me across the state in an entirely different direction… who knows! He sounds about 80% sure of Montgomery though so wish me luck! I really don’t want to be stuck living here:

Finding house as a general is really hard. Online is even harder, but also very helpful because at least can find a real estate agent to help you. We also moved to our house last year and it was such a nightmare just finding a decent place. Then the move was really difficult…really everything. I even find myself looking at new house on the Internet still, just because I was so caught up in looking for a house. It is a miracle that we managed to move before the holidays. Thanks for sharing your experience with finding a house! Greetings!
