I should really call this post How to Glitter Everything in Sight! I started out with two gold metal deer that were in need of a serious facelift… I loved how they turned out so much that I glittered just about everything else I could find! Remember the DIY Cookie Cutter Ornaments I made for Christmas? They were just another victim of the Glitter Monster! (Ooh Glitter Monster… now that’s a monster I could like!)

These two little gold deer used to be my mama’s, they have been in our house for as long as I can remember. Just two little knick-knacks in need of a refresh! Unfortunately they were just a little… dated. Mama decided she didn’t want them anymore but I have too many good memories to let them go. So I dusted them off and took these poor little orphan deer home. After thinking about it for a while I decided that what they really needed was… glitter. Lots and lots of glitter. 😉 So I dusted them off and got started!
I decided to go with fine blue glitter. I thought that the blue color would really make them pop and boy does it ever! Before I started the glittering process I gave them a good hit with the old spray paint. That way if the glitter didn’t cover or started to ware off in spots you would see blue through the glitter instead of gold. I took these two sweethearts outside and hit them with the paint. After letting them dry for an hour or two they were ready to glitter.
It was a very simple process, I used clear elmer’s glue and a small brush to apply glue to both deer. After the glue I sprinkled liberal amounts of glitter on both deer. If you would like to see the entire process check out my DIY Cookie Cutter Ornament post… it’s got the full 411!
I absolutely love how they turned out! They are a wonderful pop of blue in the office and a little touch of glitter and glam! I think they may be my new favorite thing! Plus, they’re a great bit of my childhood that was easily reinvented to fit into my life today. Isn’t that the best part?
Think of all the possibilities! You could glitter just about everything! I mean really glitter looks good on just about any knick-knack you could think of (in my opinion anyways. I am a bit of a glitter child) (a glitter child is defined as a person who LOVES glitter, fyi). Thrift stores are now stock full of potential… lots of potential for new glittery goodness lines those shelves!
Of course the glitter child in me could not stop at two projects! My glitter deer and cookie cutter ornaments were lonely! I ran to the back room and came back with one last and final (for today) glitter project. I bought these “Love Letters” several years ago for a different project and then never used them. They were meant to be used as stencils so I never cared that they were black… but as decor… I don’t do black. I don’t know why but it just doesn’t sit right with me. So with the glitter bottle open on the table I didn’t pause for thought, just grabbed the letters and went to town!
I think it adds just a touch of glitz and glam to the kitchen. Glitter has always been my favorite accessory but these new knick-knacks are so much fun. Cheap, easy and so glamorous! That’s my favorite kind of decor!

You have a pretty kitchen! Love the “love” letters! 🙂
Thanks Jodi! I was surprised with how they turned out!
You’re such a sweetheart! Thanks for stopping by!
These *almost* make me want to get glitter – they look amazing! I know the look I’d get from my husband if I brought glitter into the house though, haha!
Thanks so much for stopping by Ellen, I see you found the comment section! Everytime mine complains about glitter he gets dusted by the glitter fairy! *evil laugh* luckily he’s the most understanding man alive! I love glitter though… Tip if you spray glitter knick knacks with hairspray the glitter stays put! Then it can’t glitterfy the house!
I love the deer and the LOVE glittered letters. Visiting from Retro Re-Pin Party. What a good tip about using hairspray to seal the glitter.
Thanks Beverly, this was such a fun project! I love the REtro Re-Pin Party!
Glitter makes everything more amazing, and these deer are no exception! Thanks for linking up to our Creative Spark party! We’d love to have you join us again this week 🙂
Thanks for stopping by! I think eveything should be glittered!
