My guest bedroom looks more like a storage locker than a relaxing space for friends and family. To be honest… I can’t even look in the door or it drives me crazy! My goal over the next few months is to clean out the space… donate the things I don’t need, and fix up the things I’m going to keep!
The biggest challenge will be actually placing a bed in the room… that’s right there isn’t even a bed! We do have a frame (in my mom’s barn) but the mattress is currently MIA… so our first order of business is to actually get a bed in the space! Guest room requirement 1 is a place to sleep, right?
So to motivate the actual cleaning of the room I am starting to work on the mood board… what we want the room to look like! This is where the fun starts…
Several months ago I picked up a bedspread for the guest room…the colors are light blue, light grey and dark grey. However the bedspread has a large floral pattern which is a little abnormal for me! I decided to go a little crazy with the guest room, branch out of my comfort zone and use a bit of pattern. I love the combination of floral print and solid color in the photo above… although I think my room will use a bit more pattern.
This beautiful teal headboard is very similar to the bed we already own. At the moment it is a light honey wood color… it is a sentimental piece since it was my childhood bed! While I’ve thought about leaving it au natural I believe we will add a bit of paint. Who saw that coming! Everyone?!
The hubby and I are thinking a darker blue boarder with a lighter blue insert… although my frame is bit different (all four posts are super tall, it is able to support a canopy) it should look beautiful painted!
I love the use of the teeny tiny white bedside table and the folded patterned bedspread! Our room is teeny tiny so teeny tiny bedside tables are highly likely… I love how these are still beautiful though. They don’t look like an afterthought!
My favorite feature of the room below is all of the textures on the bed! While I already have a patterned bedspread and pillow shams I still have to choose sheets and euro shams… I tend to go solid when I already have pattern but who knows… maybe pattern is the way to go!
I absolutely love the mirrored side table and the faux fur rug above… they are so glamorous! I adore the mirrored trend that is happening right now but my hubby hates it so I could never pull it off in the master bedroom. Perhaps I can slip it past him in the guest room?
Continuing with the elegant feel the mirror below is a show stopper. I also love the little blue garden stool… I love how these tiny stools keep popping up everywhere! I have never had a space to use one in before but perhaps I can find space in the guest accommodations!
While the main colors of the room are light blue and varying grey hues perhaps I should throw in pops of pink? I love the contrast and it would definitely give the room some added oomph!
I spy a diy project! My grandparents had several blue jugs they were throwing away… don’t worry I saved them! They are rather large so I think they would make lovely lamps! Plus who doesn’t love an inexpensive lamp?
I don’t think this pillow needs any explanation… how could you not want it?!

I love the blue/grey combo – gorgeous! A mirrored side table is awesome addition to a guest room.
The pillow at the end… well, no comment LOL.

Wishing you a lovely weekend.
