There are a million ways to make your home beautiful but a simple solution is to decorate with candles. They come in so many different scents and containers so finding the perfect candle for your space can be quick and easy. Of course, we spend a ton of time in our living room… it’s kind of where we live.
Watching television, talking, playing with the dog, working on the computer. It’s a joined space where all of us can come together… which means there’s always a candle on the coffee table. Of course, using a candle to decorate is as easy as setting one out and lighting the wick. If you’re looking for a bit more inspiration I’ve put together 3 easy ways to decorate with candles… for your coffee table.
I recently picked up a few candles from Chesapeake Bay Candle’s Alassis Collection and they’re absolutely yummy. My favorite is this blush colored candle that smells like orchid and plum… I mean y’all already know I’m drawn to anything blush so this was a no brainer but just wait until you smell this thing! It’s kind of like heaven! I keep moving it from room to room because it smells so yummy! I’m a little afraid I’m going to use it all up (since I keep lighting it so often) but the package says this baby will last for 60 hours so it should be around for a good long time.
Either way I’m getting off track… let’s jump right in with my first coffee table arrangement.
When you decorate with a big candle I find it best to keep the other items simple.
Try pairing a larger candle with a floral arrangement and one small decorative item. In this case I picked a large mercury glass floral arrangement because the mercury glass complements the hand blown blush container of the large candle (instead of clashing). I like to mix containers so that you have a bit of contrast between objects.
Then I added a small gray elephant… with the gray mercury glass and the gray elephant the blush candle can be the pop of color. Definitely a plus when you’re looking to decorate with candles.
One of my favorite ways to decorate with candles is to corral them with a small tray or basket.
Especially if your candles are smaller using a tray to display them will make them seem bigger and help them fill the space. Plus on a coffee table a tray has an added bonus of corralling loose clickers and remotes.
Since our coffee table has a decorative french script I often use trays to help disguise all of the messy items on it and show off the coffee table. If you have a larger coffee table or an ottoman a tray with sides works wonders to help candles, clickers and other items from spilling out onto the surface.
The best part of this little tray is that it’s the perfect size for the two smaller Chesapeake Bay Candles the hubby fell in love with. The seafoam colored candle smells like seagrass and musk and the darker blue candle smells like colbalt water and driftwood. I was raised like a civilized human being and only light one candle at a time but the hubby is a complete rebel and will light several at once (crazy man!) so he likes to keep these two together.
How does the candle lighting go in your house?
Of course, the best way to decorate with candles is to use the candle as a decorative piece.
We’re marrying form and function here y’all! When you like to keep several items on your coffee table: photo albums, coffee table books, clickers, gaming devices, decorative items… the list is endless (Mom even keeps a basket with her bills on her coffee table so they’re front and center!) then it’s best to pick a candle that will smell amazing (function) and match the overall decor (form).
When the hubby is going through a gaming phase (instead of computer phase or a Nintendo 3ds phase or a sleeping phase…) then we have plenty of controllers on our coffee table. You know the old saying if you can’t beat them join them? I’ve found I can’t keep him from putting the controllers on the coffee table but I can give him a designated place to put them. A smaller tray or basket will corral these items while a coffee table book or photo album will draw the eye away from the electronic devices.
Score!
So which arrangement is your favorite? I’ll be honest… we’re rocking the first arrangement right now. Mainly because I am in love with that large blush candle! The other two are nice but they’ll burn for 40 hours each… so they’ll get their turn in the spot light.
Unless I go buy a second blush candle…
You never know!
In the meantime you can enter to win your own candle right here! How awesome is that?! Good luck y’all!
WOW! This is delicious and attractive..gonna try this out soon
