It is officially Christmas in the Smith House! Hallmark Christmas movies are playing round the clock… alternating with all of those wonderful Christmas carols! Our living room and dining room are completely decked out in the glittery silver and blue I love this time of year. I absolutely adore this season, it’s like our normal little house transforms into a winter wonderland!I’ve taken a slew of pictures so come on in and take a peak… I’d love to show you around!
While most of my decorations are little blue snowman, Santa can be seen every now and then… peeking around the corner! One of my favorites is the tall red bobble head snowman above… my honey bought him for me our very first Christmas together! He spent a whole day helping me to decorate for Christmas… which means he spent a whole day unpacking little blue snowmen! He caught on and was so proud of himself for paying attention. I love that he paid attention, it really is the thought that counts!
If you haven’t already make sure to check out my post entirely about our Christmas Trees!
My mama is a certified Goodwill stalker… yes that’s a real thing! Actually you could exchange Goodwill for the Arc or a thrift store… anywhere with great discounts really! At least half of my decor are things she’s found for me… the blue and silver baskets on my coffee table, most of the snowmen in my kitchen, the little sled on my kitchen table! The list can go on and on but the moral of the story is it never hurts to look. You never know what you’ll find at a secondhand shop in great condition for a great price!
On a side note here’s your first glimpse at the little blue wagon we bought from Miss Mustard Seed at The Chapel Market! I’m still working on this entire wall but it looks just darling next to the TV! I love that rusty patina on the wheels and the amazing blue color. It fits in so well in our happy little home.
I just love these little snowmen with the floppy legs! They look so cute dangling their little feet off the side of a table! This little blue one is sitting in front of our TV, his brother is in our kitchen draping his legs off of the white pantry!
While I love our home during the day, my favorite part is at night! The lights twinkle and cast a magical glow over the whole house. One of my favorite touches is the fuzzy little deer trotting over the greenery in front of my TV. He’s actually an ornament but I plucked him off the tree and with a little help from the greenery he’s able to stand up quite easily! I think he just looks darling with that fur ruff! I love when ornaments are able to function as actual decor OFF the tree. It’s all about re-using items for a purpose other than their intended! Have you seen the glitter deer I used for my hallway wall mural? While ornaments on the tree or in glass containers are great they can go so much further! Come on ladies (and gents), how do you use ornaments in your home?
Let’s move into the kitchen, shall we? I just love the look of our blue and white dishes set with a wintery background. They really pop off of our shimmery “Let it Snow” place-mats!
I love how everything turned out this year, a glittery winter wonderland. My favorite place to be! Since this is our first year as a married couple we’re still finding ways to integrate both of our family traditions into our home. While I love the blue and silver the hubby is use to a little more red and green! I was able to sprinkle a bit of sparkly red around (everything is great if it sparkles!) so we’ll see how our styles continue to merge over the years!
Since it is our first Christmas together I’m on a mission to find the perfect stockings to hang on our little mantle! Here are my top two: a knitted silver and white version with a wide fluffy top and a silver and blue version with adorable little birdies. While the birds are adorable I’m torn that they’re not “Christmas-y” enough… and while the silver knit is my favorite I’m worried it’s just too plain! I could always add a little bling bling to the top though, sparkly names maybe?! What do you think the silver knitted version? The grey birdies? Or should I nix both ideas and just keep looking? Let me know by answering the poll below!
Merry Christmas y’all, I’m so glad you stopped by!
