I think you’ve all figured out by now that I’m obsessed with decorating… If you haven’t then you’re not paying attention! Don’t worry, take the time to catch up on past posts, we’ll be here when you’re done!
While I love the furniture, antique pieces and tchotchkes that make up my home, my favorite part are the personal touches. I mean really aren’t the PEOPLE the heart of the home? The reason it’s all happening? I don’t want a cookie-cutter house that follows trends and traditions, I buy things that make me happy every time I glance at them. If I have a piece of furniture that doesn’t make my heart sing… well then I just fix it with a little bit of elbow grease and a whole lot of effort.
I try to include photos of my friends and family somewhere in each room. Since my hubby and I were only recently married (May 17, 2014 to be exact) we have what appears to be a large number of wedding photos. (Thanks Jen!) I hate to see them sitting in a box, on a cd, in a slideshow… only to be looked through on special occasions like when my Grandma comes over (although I love it when family comes to visit). I want to see our photos everyday!
While I had several 4×6 and 5×7 prints to place in frames, I also wanted large photos to mix in with my gallery walls. Pieces that could really hold their own… so I decided to have several canvas prints made.
I chose a photo of our entire wedding party to hang in the office over my hubby’s desk, and a photo of our first kiss to hang in the living room. Confession time… I haven’t truly decided where to hang the photo of our first kiss… so it’s propped against a larger canvas on the mantle until I decide!
I’ve never had personal photos made into a canvas before, so I started to do a little research. I found that Shutterfly charged $71.99 for a 20 x 16 canvas… ouch that hurts for a girl on a budget like me! With a little bit of hunting I finally found Canvas DiscountI was able to purchase a 20 x 12 canvas (which was the perfect size to fit over the hubby’s desk without overwhelming the space) for $25.
The quality of the canvas is excellent, the photos look crisp and clear in person and the canvas is wrapped around the sides of the frame and fastened securely in the back. They do wrap the photo all the way around to the back though, so make sure that you place your photo directly in the middle of the frame.
Then to take it a step further I found a coupon code… two for the price of one! That’s right two 20 x 12 canvases for $25! Plus there was a special for labor day… free shipping. I just about wet myself (don’t worry I didn’t). Unfortunately the free shipping was a holiday promotion but the 2 for 1 deal appears to be fairly common… they seem to switch between 2 for 1 and an additional 15% coupon codes. Whichever code they are using for the day will be listed directly on the homepage of their website so you don’t even have to search!
I absolutely love these little canvases… and the best part? I might be an affiliate for the canvas discount company but I bought these months before I even knew what an affiliate link was! So you know how much I truly love them!
This post contains affiliate links to really awesome products that I use in my own home! If you use one of my links I receive a small commission at no cost to you… awesome huh?
