With Valentines Day right around the corner it’s time to whip up a little bit of crafty magic! I don’t know if it’s the memory of carefully hand-making little tiny Valentines for all my friends but something about this holiday always has me reaching for the glue stick!
This year I had an extra reason to whip out the crafting supplies… a fun little DIY Blog Hop thought up by the fabulous Erlene from My Pinterventures! She’s rounded up 14 fantastic bloggers (myself included! Oh la la!) to participate in this very special Valentines Day celebration!

The task was easy… head over to the local Dollar Store and purchase supplies (under $10) for a fun Valentines Day Project! After that the sky was the limit… and with 14 different bloggers the possibilities were endless!
I wasn’t sure exactly what I should make so I went ahead and bundled my protesting into the car to check out what the local Dollar Store had to offer. Really… he should be use to it by now but he still puts up a fight… doesn’t he realize resistance is futile? Nope… he’s a man!
He was not nearly as impressed with the selection of adorable red and pink heart shaped decor as I was! I walked up and down the aisle carefully looking at every item… but despite the multitude of festively decorated packages I was immediately drawn to the little heart shaped doilies!
Go figure!
Since I could get a whole package of doilies for a dollar I went a little crazy! So here are 3 Valentines Day Projects to make with heart shaped doilies from the Dollar Store!
Valentines Day Wreath
As soon as I saw the white doilies I knew that a full wreath would bean absolutely adorable addition to our bedroom door! I ditched the glue stick for this one and broke out the hot glue gun… we’re in the big leagues now baby!
I used 3 packages to make the full wreath… and it took me almost 2 hours to complete! My floor looks like it was snowing in here with all the dried hot glue I’ve peeled off my fingers… I really should be more careful with that hot glue gun! I kind of just slapped the glue on and folded the doilies… I didn’t want them to be too uniform!
This little wreath is so cute! I hung it on a nail on our bedroom door (since it’s paper it would not do well outside!) it definitely needs a wreath hook though… that little nail will break through the paper after a couple days!
I added the pink swag as a last minute addition… this little white wreath needed a pop of color!
Heart Shaped “Love You” Book
This little doily book is definitely getting a big bow for the hubby on the 14th! The “52 Reasons Why I love you” Deck of Cards I made for his birthday was a big hit so why break tradition? I folded each doily and glued it to the next… and once I went through an entire package I glued on a doily cover! Inside I’m going to write a whole bushel of reasons why I love my big adorable husband!
How cute would a little mini book look with “10 Reasons I love Grandma!” or “5 Things I love about Daddy!” This could be the cutest little craft for the kiddos as well as a fun little reminder of all the reasons you love your honey bunch!
Doily Envelopes
These little envelopes took 5 minutes to whip up! Fold and glue… done! They would be so cute to hold a little love note to your sweetie! Try making a quick dozen and leaving random notes all over the house… or where they’ll find them throughout the day!
Remember a gift doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive… sometimes a simple “I love you!” note can be just the thing to lift their spirits!
