I realized today that I haven’t shown y’all my master bedroom in quite a while! While this isn’t a full reveal (we’re still working on things… hold your horses!) I thought I would give you a little bedroom update on what we have finished and a sneak peak into the things we are still working on!
The last time we saw the Master Bedroom it looked a little something like this:
Of course the two biggest additions are the Wall Gallery and Euro Pillows (yippie!). I have been looking for euro pillows for (what seems like) years! Seems easy right? Run to the store… grab two pillows! Well in my house it’s not that easy… My fluffy orange kitty is highly attracted to down. Short of going overboard she loves to… tinkle on the down material. So instead of just grabbing two pillows off the shelf I’ve been frantically searching for two euro pillows that contain ABSOLUTELY NO down. (argh!)
Well the euro pillow gods must have decided to take pity on me because for Christmas my little brother gave me a big ol’ box with two euro pillows! EEEek! I don’t think I could contain my excitement… I pulled them right out of the box to smush my face in them! Pure bliss.
It was a complete accident that my little bro picked pillows without down… he had no idea about my down dilemma! I absolutely love the way they draw your eye upwards toward the headboard. They really add an extra bit of height to the bed, which helps the entire wall to not look so horizontal. With the shams and both dressers things were a little bit too cohesive. Staggering items adds a bit of depth which makes the room more interesting. Plus I absolutely love PILLOWS! They make the entire bed feel like a cloud. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed.
I love it! Now if I could just find a second set of these grey medallion curtains from the Target Threshold line! I picked them up several years ago and they must be discontinued because I can’t find them anywhere! I will find some… somewhere… I want to balance the wall by creating a “fake” window over my hubby’s dresser.
The second update is our wall mural on the far wall. We decided to keep it simple with larger pieces so that the room didn’t feel overwhelmed. I grabbed a couple white picture collages from my apartment and a large wall clock I picked up on clearance but my favorite two pieces are the ballerinas.
My great-aunt painted them and since I was a ballet dancer when I was little (from the age of 2 until high school) they were passed down to me by my great-uncle. I absolutely love having a piece made by someone in my family and luckily my hubby is amazing and doesn’t mind having ballerina’s on his bedroom wall!
In order to unify the wall with the rest of the bedroom I painted the frames with metallic silver paint. They were a dingy dated brown wood before and the silver paint really put a breath of fresh air right back into the whole painting. Our bedroom is a bit more glamorous than the rest of the house: mercury glass lamps, silver furniture, metallic finishes, crystal pieces. The metallic paint really adds a great touch. My favorite part is how it picks up the blue and silver highlights of the blue ballerina’s outfit. Absolutely fabulous.
While I love the great feeling of having two items knocked off my list I still have so much more to do! My next project will be tackling the wall directly across from the bed… it’s in a bit of shambles at the moment.
So much blank space! Now I like a peaceful place to rest my eye but this is straight unfinished. The hubby and I tossed around several ideas before deciding on the perfect solution! The dresser needs to be painted grey to match the other two dressers in the room… the turntable on top of the dresser needs a little makeover as well. The most dramatic transformation though should be the floating shelves my hubby plans to build for me. I am so excited! I can’t wait to have a bit more display space for all of the trinkets currently crowding the top of my dresser. I think my hubby’s gained a bit of motivation since Christmas morning… he unwrapped a brand new 32” TV for the bedroom. Silly boys and their electronic toys.
Here’s the plans, I can’t wait! Happy New Years Eve y’all, be safe and have fun!

Very pretty! I am redoing mine as well. Seems like using gray colors has becoming quite popular. I like the way you mixed colors..Gives a nice soft look.

Thanks! I can’t wait to see your room as well! Gray has become quite popular this year, I love it! I have white furniture in most of my home so I wanted a break from that. I dont like black so I thought I would give gray a try! I think it worked out very well… I cant wait until my rug is in place though!

White furniture and 5 kids definitely don’t mix…learned that the hard way! Happy New Year!

Eek! No I imagine you have very little white in your home! I just have the one big kid (my hubby) so it works out well for us. One day when we have little kids I may go on a rampage and paint everything a different color… We shall see!

Your bedroom looks so cozy- I love it! And I love gray furniture, too. I have a hutch I’ve been wanting to paint gray…someday I’ll get around to it. You’ve inspired me to make our room more cozy. Most days it looks more like a storage unit.

Aww thanks Katie! I would love to see your hutch when it’s done, painting always sits on my to-do list for a while too. It makes such a big difference though! I love our cozy little room, its the one room I “try” to always keep clean. That way at the end of the day I can close the door on the mess and just relax. My guest room on the other hand… It definitally looks more like a storage unit than a room!

My husband is not the type who would allow me to redo our bedroom like this but I love it! The colors are gorgeous!

Thanks April! I am extremely lucky with my husband if I love it he loves it! I brought home fabric samples to make-over the hubbys desk chair last night and my mom told me “Betsy your husband will not want flowers on his desk chair” He said it was just fine! Would he pick it out himself? Probally not but if I love it he’s ok with it! I am a lucky girl!
Luckily design can be just as beautiful with a masuline touch! Add a leather headboard and wood furniture instead of the painted grey and the whole room would be warmer and more masuline. I have lots of things from before we were together that I love, I am just lucky that my hubby doesn’t mind them!
