Working on the Guest Room... Option 1! with Happily Ever After, Etc.

Working on the Guest Room… Option 1!

affiliate disclosure 2

Hey y'all

I’m finally conquering the final room in my house… the guest room. The other rooms are coming along and hopefully will be finished any day now (the hubby and I were hanging pictures on Saturday night if that tells you how close we are!). The guest room on the other hand is still in the inspiration stage… the only thing that is for sure is the furniture (a Christmas present from the hubby), the quilt set and the elephant!

Since the furniture is sage green and cream that definitely sets the mood. I picked a gorgeous grey and cream quilt set that will help the room stay neutral. That means our color palette so far is sage, cream and gray.

Here’s where the tricky part comes in.

I’m not quite sure where to go with the color palette from here. The walls are yellow and I really don’t want to paint. I love a pop of bold color… so here’s what I’m thinking.

Working on the Guest Room... Option 1! with Happily Ever After, Etc.

Sage, cream, grey and navy!

I have a navy curtain and pillow sham that I think would work perfectly in this room… other people (ahem… Mom) aren’t so convinced!

Working on the Guest Room... Option 1! with Happily Ever After, Etc.

Part of me absolutely loves this, absolutely adores it. Part of me wants to pull out the antique ticking, buffallo checks and stick a little closer to the antique vibe of the furniture. We’ll see how that looks in option 2!

For today let’s take a closer look at each element in this little navy mood board!

Working on the Guest Room... Option 1! with Happily Ever After, Etc.

Navy Curtains

I already own one navy geometric panel that looks very similar to the panels pictured above! Since I only have one panel I would love to splice my panel with a bit of grey material!

Working on the Guest Room... Option 1! with Happily Ever After, Etc.

Grey and Cream Rug

Yup, the grey and cream wonder rug has made it’s way to the guest room. After the whole $250 cleaning debacle I don’t feel quite comfortable enough to put this baby back in the master bedroom… so it’s going to live in the guest room for now! Luckily it looks awesome there!

Working on the Guest Room... Option 1! with Happily Ever After, Etc.

Eyan the Cardboard Elephant

Now this is one project I am super excited for! I won’t spill all the beans just yet but by the time I’m done with him Eyan the Elephant will fit perfectly into any color scheme!

Working on the Guest Room... Option 1! with Happily Ever After, Etc.

Grey and Cream Quilt

I absolutely love this quilt set! I don’t know why but something in the pattern just grabs me! Since the furniture is mainly solid the pattern on the quilt will add a little dimension to the room!

Working on the Guest Room... Option 1! with Happily Ever After, Etc.

Navy Euro Sham

With the navy curtains and a pop of navy over the dresser I needed one more pop of navy to bounce the eye around the room… these euro pillows are the perfect solution!

Working on the Guest Room... Option 1! with Happily Ever After, Etc.

French Provincial Nightstand

This is almost the exact same nightstand that my Mom found on the side of the road! She snatched it up and now it’s on it’s way to live in my wondrous guest room… as soon as it’s been cleaned up a bit! I’m thinking a coat of sage paint will perk this baby up and help it to fit in with the other furniture! I might even dip the feet like the little gold detail in the example… maybe a set of little grey feet!

Well what do y’all think? Is the navy too much of a contrast? Does the geometric pattern go too far outside the box from the french provincial furniture?

I love the bold addition of the navy color to your scheme. It fits so well and really gives the more neutral colors something to anchor to. I need some inspiration for our kitchen walls! The reno is going to happen this spring and I’m just beginning to look at colors!

I absolutely adore navy and green together! You might need to give yourself a bit of a break from painting for a little while (I certainly know the feeling!!), but once you’re ready, it would totally be worth it to play up the drama. The guest bedroom is a perfect place for dramatic decor!
