Shortly after we were engaged my Mom and the hubby’s Dad came to visit… since my Dad and the MIL live in town we decided it was the perfect time to knock a few things off our wedding to do list. Honestly it was the best week! We filled it with dress appointments, picking a venue, tux rentals and of course the infamous wedding registry!
It was the best night filled with arguing over who could use the little register gun thingy and picking the perfect set of sheets. Now that might not sound like fun to you but it was a blast for me! The hubby loved the little register gun thingy so he had a blast too!
Of course we had no idea what to register for and basically picked our favorite version of whatever Mom told us to register for. It was a fairly good system (and we received dozens of amazing gifts from our loving friends and family) but with a little more thought we could have better prepared ourselves for our very first house.
(Psst! Before you dive in to the really really long post I have prepared just remember you can grab your FREE 42 page wedding binder here and your printable wedding registry right here! Why try to remember your perfect registry when you can print it out and take it with you?)
Since it’s such a long list I color coded it a little bit for y’all, hot pink means we have it and use it, blue means we’ve bought it for ourselves and wish it was on our registry, and light pink means it’s ok but we really don’t use it at all. All of the titles are links so if you’re looking for something specific just click away!! Alright y’all, take a big breath! It’s time to dive in!
Dinnerware & Drinkware
8 Formal and/or Casual Place Settings
We asked for casual place settings on our registry and several of my aunts pitched in to buy the set for me! They are french blue with scroll-work and oh so pretty! I love that I can use them for just about any meal instead of just fancy smancy occasions!
Gravy Boat
I don’t eat gravy… can’t stand the stuff! So I suppose this guy will come in handy one day but for now it’s kind of useless!
Cake Stand
I actually use this guy for fun parties… like our little Christmas party spread last year! But once or twice a year isn’t much so I don’t think I can classify this guy as a use it all the time. Either way I love it, and hopefully will find more ways to use it in the years to come.
Butter Dish
This guy is so cute but it’s actually one of the few pieces we didn’t get for our set… one day I’ll have to pick it up! It would be way easier than wrapping and unwrapping that darn butter stick every time you need a little butter for your waffles!
Pitcher
Y’all in our house we drink peach tea like it’s going out of style… it’s the only thing that can beat out our undying diet coke habit! We love to buy the big canister of tea mix at the store which means we need a big pitcher for our peach tea! My best friends Mama bought this little guy for us and we love using it almost every day.
Serving Platter
8 Steak Knives
Y’all I never knew the difference in steak knives until we went from our old hand-me-down set to our brand new set… it really does make a difference y’all!
8 Mugs
Hot chocolate y’all, hot chocolate.
Chip & Dip Tray
Pretty and functional… we love this little guy but it only gets out at parties! I guess the moral of the story is that we need to have more parties! I suppose as we grow up we’ll start to host more things but right now we’re still visiting the parentals for most major holidays.
Salt & Pepper Shakers
It may be a bit strange but I have a pair of my Grandpa’s salt and pepper shakers so these little guys always remind me of him. The pair from his house are cracked and not very good at holding salt anymore but I still keep them for sentimental reasons… I know I’m strange like that.
Sugar & Creamer Set
The hubby absolutely loves vanilla creamer in his coffee so I suppose we love half of this set!
8 Plastic Tumblers
Set of Serving Utensils
Our flatware set came with serving utensils but if you’re in need of a separate set you’ll be very glad you picked these up. We use them all the time for things like mashed potatos and large servings of cereal… or maybe that’s just the hubby.
Serving Bowl
Salad y’all… this baby is perfect for salad! Or cereal, raman or macaroni & cheese if I’m not home and the hubby is making his own meals. 😉
8 Tall Tumblers
Maybe I’m strange but I’ll drink out of a glass glass before anything else… in fact I kind of refuse to drink out of plastic unless there’s literally no other option. I guess I’m a glass snob!
Flatware Set
Y’all I don’t even know how to express the amount of love I have for this flatware set. It’s from Oneida and I loved it so much that when Mom wanted a new set of flatware that can go in the dishwasher we bought her a similar set… and she loves hers too.
There’s two different versions: a lighter version and a heavier weighted version so make sure you get the heavier version. They’re absolutely amazing and have held up so well! I love mine!
Knife Set
The hubby absolutely loves his knives… he’s definitely the cook in the family so short of cutting my steak I don’t have too much cause to use the big knives! Either way he’s very happy with the block we received… so I’d say it’s a win!
Soup Ladle
We have never once used our soup ladle (we have actually never made soup that didn’t come from a can… I don’t think we’re real grown ups yet) but if I had this super cute nessie soup ladle I would probably make soup all the time!
8 Wine Glasses
Y’all these wine glasses are the absolute best! We received a set of traditional stemmed glasses for our registry but I realllllly wanted the stemless version. We bought them a few weeks after the wedding and we use them all the time… it may just be a preference thing but I absolutely love them!
Cookware & Bakeware
Corningware Set
This is the exact set we registered for and it might just be my favorite thing of all the things in our kitchen! We use it to cook dinner at least 3 times a week plus most major holidays. Not to mention the hubby uses the little ramekins as ketchup holders… and trust me he’s like 87% ketchup.
Large Skillet
Small Skillet
The hubby likes to use this little tiny skillet when the big one is dirty (you know instead of just washing the big one…) which means some nights he’ll cook four burgers in this one tiny pan! One after the other, after the other… it takes forever! If it was used for it’s real purpose it might be on the love list but in our household it would have made more sense to buy two large skillets! 😉
6 Ramekins
Remember how I said the hubby uses our little corningware ramekins for ketchup? Well he uses them for most lunches and almost every dinner… which means those little ramekins were getting quite the workout! So instead I bought this cute little set (I love how they look like little tiny cooking pots!) and the best part? They have lids! Which means when he gets too heavy handed with the ketchup I can put a lid on it and save it for the next meal! Score!
Bundt Pan
I don’t think we’ve ever even toughed this bad boy… maybe one day we’ll decide we like bundt cakes and this little guy will get a workout but until then it sits on the useless list.
Measuring Cups & Spoons
2 Spatulas
Love these… they’re great for making all kinds of things but especially cake. I love cake.
Oven Mitts
Sifter
Surprisingly we haven’t used this little guy once… probably because we’re not real adults. Maybe one day! Either way at least he looks cute while sitting on the counter! 😉
Pizza Stone
We use this guy ALL the time! Pizza, cookies… anything we can possibly cook on this bad boy we do. We have a large size and a medium and it’s amazing!
Muffin Pan
Cupcakes, y’all! Cupcakes!
Splatter Screen
We actually didn’t think about adding this to our registry but after several months of using the broken hand-me down version in our kitchen we just had to buy a new one. Cheeseburgers y’all, and bacon… we use it all the time.
6 Kitchen Towels
For some reason we completely forgot to register for kitchen towels… and there’s no way we can escape without towels! I love how cute these are!
2 Wooden Spoons
The hubby loves wooden spoons over metal or silicone so we registered for a couple… they’re suppose to help your food taste more natural. I don’t know about all of that but I love the glitter dipped handles on these!
Rolling Pin
I’m not sure why but I absolutely had to have this little guy… and I adore it! Go figure!
Stacked Mixing Bowls
Stacked mixing bowls… with lids. Pretty much the best thing ever! I love how you can make just about anything in these bad boys and then refrigerate it later… the hubby loves that he can fit large amounts of cereal in one single bowl.
Cutting Board
I never knew I loved wooden cutting boards… in fact we registered for the flexible version but it really makes such a difference. Who knew?
Kitchen Gadgets & Electronics
Blender
We actually bought this little guy a few years before the wedding but we absolutely love it! I like that I can use different attachments for just a glass or a whole pitcher… it’s kind of awesome.
Crockpot
Best invention EVER! Easy crockpot meals are the best… I love chicken teriyaki in the crockpot! Just throw it in at the beginning of the day and eat when you get home! I don’t have to tell y’all, crockpot meals aren’t exactly new.
Can Opener
Potato Peeler
As much as I love potatoes I love cucumbers even more… so this guy is an absolute necessity at my house.
Coffee Maker
The hubby absolutely loves his keurig… instant french vanilla every morning! I guess that’s a good thing although I’m still trying to figure out a way to get diet coke on tap.
Cheese Grater
The worst part of grating cheese is trying to grate it directly into the bowl… is it rocket science? Is it horribly difficult? No but it is so much easier to use this little guy… the grater hooks directly onto the container which makes it that much easier. Score!
Kitchen Mixer
This guy is only light pink because we still have our old hand-me down… one day we will own a pretty KitchenAide mixer but until then I will continue to borrow from friends and wish from afar!
Hand Mixer
I LOVE this little guy… mainly because of the little container that snaps on the bottom! It makes keeping all the little bits and pieces together so easy… which is great when you’re absent minded like me.
Whisk
Toaster
Rice Cooker
This might be a preference thing but I absolutely love rice… so this guy is kind of my favorite thing ever! A big bag of rice lasts forever… and it’s so cheap! That kind of matters when you’re a newlywed.
Waffle Maker
This is literally the best twenty bucks we’ve ever spent… pancake mix in a big bag is a great price but the hubby hates making pancakes (and I hate waiting for him to make pancakes one at a time in the little skillet… why is the big skillet always dirty?) so instead… waffles!
Electric Griddle
This is the perfect solution to the little skillet one pancake at a time problem… now if only I could find the cord! When this baby is working it’s absolutely amazing!
Home
Vacuum
We actually received a different vacuum for out wedding registry and after a year it died a slow and painful death in the living room. It was a sweet vacuum but it just couldn’t handle 3 pets… so we replaced it with the Bissell Powerforce and this baby gets the carpets so clean! I love it! I even wrote a post about it… so you know it’s good.
Hand Vacuum
Do you remember the episode of Friends where Monica says “If only I had a smaller vacuum to clean this one!” Well I don’t use my little vacuum to clean the big one but I always think of her when using this little baby.
Broom
Mop
This little guy keeps everything so clean! I love how the water spins out when you’re done cleaning! It’s absolutely amazing.
Dust Pan
Hands free y’all, this little guy was the best thing I ever bought.
Iron
I am not a real adult… so there’s that. I should iron a lot more than I actually do so maybe one day I’ll actually realize I should iron my clothes a bit more. Maybe.
Ironing Board
Hamper
Y’all this is just about the cutest hamper ever. I love that it’s on wheels and that the basket is elevated… which is perfect for those prying puppy noses.
Place-mats
Table Cloths
Candle Stick Holders
Candle Sticks
Cloth Napkins
Napkin Rings
Vases
Surprisingly one of my most used wedding gifts are the vases we received… and since I love anything with mercury glass these are amazing!
Coasters
The hand-me-down coasters we use to have just weren’t cutting it anymore… luckily I made some really cute replacements!
Picture Frames
After the wedding there are wedding pictures… register for at least a few really pretty frames to put your pretty photos in. You won’t regret it!
Lawn Mower
Not much to say about this one… we live in Alabama where the grass is always green and the temperature is always warm. The grass is always growing here y’all, always.
Grill
Trevor loooves grilling… maybe it’s a guy thing? He even tries to use his grilling utensils inside… which is kind of hilarious.
Fan
Honestly I could live without this baby since I am allllways cold but the hubby is the exact opposite. He is always hot… we bought this little tower fan so that the hubby can have a fan that points directly at him and I can stay warm on my side of the room. It’s a win-win!
Cookbooks
I know how to cook the basics: meat and potatoes, tacos, salad, waffles… but there’s so many recipes out there I’ve never even tried! Since the hubby and I both work we’ve been learning all the great crock-pot recipes… it’s kind of the best.
Bed & Bath
2 Sheet Sets
Y’all we only asked for one set of sheets… do you know how stupid that is? You have to wash and immediately put them back on the bed… not to mention they get worn out super quick with only one set! Definitely ask for at lest 2… if not 3!
4 Pillows
2 Shams
Even though most bedding sets come with matching shams a little contrast makes your bedding really pop. I absolutely love the difference! We bought a set last year and it makes such a difference!
Throw Pillows
Y’all may know that throw pillows are kind of my thing… I may or may not be a self-proclaimed pillow hoarder! Since I couldn’t pick just one pillow for this little list here’s a list of 27 that I kind of love! Bonus… they’re all under twenty bucks!
Throw Blanket
The hubby bought this faux fur blanket for our very first Christmas together… it’s so soft and cuddly! Just like being wrapped in a warm hug! I love it.
Curtains
Sometimes curtains can be an afterthought but they really tie a room together… plus they’re kind of awesome!
Toothbrush Holder
Shower Curtain
Shower Curtain Liner
Shower Curtain Rings
I might be channeling a 13 year old girl but I absolutely love my rhinestone shower curtain rings… they look so much prettier when attached to a curtain!
6 Bath Towels
Y’all these are the best… they’re oversized and soooo soft! You have to try them for yourself… you’ll never go back to regular towels again!
2 Bath Rugs
Soap Dish
Comforter/Duvet
I know there’s a lot of controversy over whether bed-in-a-bag is the way to go but here’s my opinion… do what you want! If you find a set that you love there’s definitely ways to add throw pillows and extra blankets to make your bedding as unique as you like it.
Luggage
2 Tote Bags
I’m a huge advocate for tote bags… throw your purse inside with a magazine and a pillow and you’re good to go! With airline regulations these days a tote bag is the perfect way to corral all of your things in one easy to carry package… how’s that for sales copy?
2 Suitcases Sets
(Large Suitcase, Carry on and Garment Bags)
Okay y’all we absolutely love our new luggage… we’ve used it a million times since the wedding! Unfortunately the set we received from our registry broke after the honeymoon… so we returned it and bought the hubby a set of Atlantic luggage to match mine. I’ve had my pink bags since high school (they were literally a graduation gift) they last forever and are great quality… plus the hubby likes the swively wheels! Pick a fun color so your bags are easily recognized on the luggage carousal!
1 Set of Luggage Tags
2 Passport Covers
And that my friends is the longest post ever! Hopefully you saw a few things that will help you with your own registry… of course if you’re looking for a printable list I’ve got you covered! Grab yours here!
