I know, I know… it’s called the Market on Chapel Hill now but it’ll always be the Chapel Market to me! For the past three years I have found myself in a little town called Pike Road, Alabama around this time of year… just in time for the fabulous market in the big white Chapel.
Of course the neighborhood is amazing but the best part? The bloggers who set up booths… and the amazing things they bring! I’ve attended for the past two years (which is pretty cool because the Market is only three years old… so I haven’t missed a year yet!) and each year the little white market grows!
A few of the fabulous bloggers that have booths are Miss Mustard Seed, Urban Farmgirl and Perfectly Imperfect! I really wanted to pick up a sweet little blue horse trailer from Miss Mustard Seed’s both but it was long gone by the time we got there… things always move fast at the market! I ended up going home with the blue and white minnow bucket down below… which I absolutely fell in love with! Isn’t it weird how we fall in love with the weirdest things?
Let’s take a look through some of the booths shall we?
So many gorgeous things! I love all of the furniture… but I really have no room in my home for new pieces!
I’m always excited for shopping (hello… it’s SHOPPING) but my favorite part of the market is always seeing Miss Mustard Seed! She’s the reason I started blogging in the first place and I absolutely love getting to see her once a year. This year she even said I looked familiar! Maybe if I see her once a year for the next couple years she’ll even remember me 😉 Last year she taught a milk paint class that I wasn’t able to go to… silly little thing called work got in the way. So this year I made sure to take the day off months early… and my husband forced me to sit in the front row for her class.
I’m way to shy for that kind of initiative… he had to say hi for me as well. Otherwise I would have just stood there in awe… without the guts to say a single word. Does anyone else have that problem? I’m not very good with talking to strangers… which is weird because after reading someones blog for so many years (at least 5!) it doesn’t feel like she’s a stranger!
I have used chalk paint for years but I haven’t played around with milk paint yet… which is why I was so excited to go to this little crash coarse. The best part? She did a give away and I won! Eeek!
Well… technically the hubby won but he has no use for milk paint so the whole prize came to me! Bwah ha ha ha!
When she was announcing the giveaway and the hubster held up her business card with a signature (the sign of the winner 😉 ) She went to hand it to him and then went “I think this is probablly going to go to her, am I right?” and handed it to me! Excited can not even begin to cover it.
Especially when I opened the bag and took a look at all the cool stuff I won.
I really can’t say thank you enough… I’ve been wanting to try milk paint for a while now (a year or two) but we just don’t have the budget for special extras like fancy brushes or brush soap. So this little “starter kit” is sooo awesome! Y’all will definitely be seeing a few makeover’s around here with all this new paint! I’ll even write up a little tutorial once I figure it all out… I know there’s a million tutorials out there but they say the best way to learn is to teach! So teach I shall.
I had a blast at this year’s market… I already can’t wait for next years Market!
PS If you’d like a sneak peek behind the scenes check out this video the hubby shot! It’s not super duper quality (the hubster was really just messing around!) but you get to see part of Miss Mustard Seeds milk paint class! Awesome!
This sounds so fun, Betsy! I am not normally a shy person at all but if I ever met a few of the bloggers that I’ve fallen in love with I probably would be completely star struck…If they even mention me at all on periscope, instagram, fb (etc) I get googly eyed haha. I’m so jealous that you have something so adorable right near you!
