A few weeks ago Mom and I were perusing the aisles at JoAnn Fabrics when I said “I need to find a gold ornament.” Mom literally stopped dead in her tracks, starring at me with her mouth open in astonishment…
OK maybe it wasn’t quite that dramatic but she definitely said something like “why?”
See, Totally the same thing!
So why was I shopping for a gold ornament when I absolutely love silver? 3 words:
2015 Ornament Exchange!
This post contains affiliate links to totally awesome ornaments that I recently found on a shopping trip! If you purchase one I receive a small commission at no cost to you and you get an adorable ornament… score!
Erlene, from My Pinterventures, put together the entire ornament exchange and it’s absolutely fabulous… if I do say so myself! There are over eighty bloggers… eighty! That is a round-up of epic proportions!
The guidelines are simple… create or buy an ornament for under $10 to exchange with a brand new bloggy friend! Um, yes please!
Not only do I get a new ornament to add to my collection but I made a new bloggy friend… Timisha from Toolbox Divas! She’s all about DIY and rocking the power tools… plus she loves the color blue! So she’s totally my type of gal!
This year for Christmas she’s going completely decadent… decorating with luscious creams, bleached pine cones and gorgeous gold glitter! Now I’m not a gold gal but that sounds heavenly! She’s calling it a Cashmere Christmas.
I love that!

I knew I had to come up with a truly sensational ornament for her fabulous theme… but I wasn’t able to find a single thing I needed for the gold glitter Christmas tree ornaments I had planned to make. Every single bit of gold glitter felt in a 3 hour radius was actually orange masquerading as gold. It was disgusting! Do these people think we won’t notice that their gold felt is actually more of a burnt umber? I checked store after store with no luck… until a recent trip to Birmingham.
Mom and I had a fabulous Christmas party to decorate for… so we went on a very special shopping trip to check out the Christmas decorations at At Home. (Mission accomplished FYI. My dining room looks like a complete winter wonderland!) On the way home we stopped at JoAnn Fabrics to search for gold glitter felt (again no luck!) but what we did find was the cutest little ornament that could ever be classified as Cashmere!
I truly loved the entire line… that little mason jar almost came home with me! I was good though and only bought Timisha’s ornament… aren’t you proud of me?!
Don’t be too proud… I’ve recently found every single ornament in that collage is available on JoAnn.com! They’re even on sale… the little presents I bought Timisha were $9.99 and online they’re $5.99!! I even found a few that I didn’t see in the store like this cute little white deer… or this tiny blue tree! You know what they say… if you leave a store and still think about something days later it was meant to be! 😉 That’s all the incentive I need to fill up my cart! Bwah ha ha ha!
I know, I know… we’re suppose to be shopping for Timisha.
Isn’t it perfect? I absolutely love it! I really should have bought two so I could keep one for myself! Oops! Either way I’m so excited to send this little baby to Timisha! Plus… I can’t wait to see what she has for me!
Today is day 2 of the ornament exchange… so we still have 12 more days of fabulous tutorials and shopping trips. That’s a full 14 days of amazing ornaments! Check back on the 14th for a round-up of everyone’s ornaments… we’ll have a little ornament party with the whole gang! Of course, if you’re dying to check out the guest list head on over to My Pinterventures… otherwise check out what these 6 fantastic ladies have come up with!
Day 2:
Psst… love this ornament? Don’t want to forget about the ornament exchange? Pin it!

Besty ,
Hi there from Dragonfly & Lily Pads, I stopped by to visit the ornament exchange with you. Your ornament is adorable. I have met Timisha author of Her Tool Belt at a blog conference. I know she will love her ornament. I must say I love how you shop too.
Happy Creating,
Karen Marie
