Kitchen Reveal with Happily Ever After, Etc.

Kitchen Reveal!

Hey y'all

After 6 months it’s finally time for my first room reveal in our new house! We’re starting with the Kitchen Reveal… that way we can save the best for last! 😉

As far as our little kitchen has come I still have a deep seated hatred for the green cabinets and red counters… it’s like Christmas up in here!

Oh well… some things you can change and some you have to learn to love! With the new grey walls and fabulous slipcovers this little kitchen has come a long way!

Yes that’s a cat on the counter. His name is Jasper and if you’ve been around here for longer than two seconds you know we’re the type of crazy pet parents who call their animals “fur babies” and let the kitty cats sit on the counter! It’s one of the few places he can escape from the terror that is our yorkie… she thinks he’s a chew toy!

Plus he’s a super cute counter decoration!

I originally picked the slipcover fabric because the dark blue color looked fabulous with our kitchen pie safe… but the saturated color looks fantastic with the green cabinets as well! Sometimes a saturated color needs another saturated color to balance the room!

Since we don’t want the green to stand out as the most dominant color in the room a saturated color was the perfect choice. A lighter color would let the green steal the show! Decide what you want to highlight in your room and work off that!

The best part of our kitchen? The sliding doors that lead out into our fenced in back yard! I still hate getting up to let princess out to potty so a backyard is the most important item on my house list!

I mean look at all that grass!

Since we have a pantry at this house my little white cabinet pantry wasn’t as crucial at this house! That means it was open for a decoration cabinet!!

I don’t know that a “decoration cabinet” is a real thing but I needed a place to keep the candles that aren’t currently in use or the potpourri I bought on sale but don’t need quite yet! You know… all the little extra things I’ve picked up but haven’t quite worked on yet!

Okay… it’s a junk drawer in cabinet form! But what a pretty junk drawer it is!

So that’s it! The full kitchen reveal in our new house! The first room of many! Over the next month or two I’ll be sneaking in reveals for the living room, craft room, master bedroom and guest room!

I can’t wait!

What about y’all… how do you make the best of a bad kitchen?

Betsy—well done! It’s beautiful! Like you, I have a kitchen that needs a lot of work. I bought some gel paint for the cabinets, but that’s going to have to wait til summer. It’s just been too cold a winter to get proper ventilation while I paint!

Thanks Melanie! I think it’s the best it can be without painting the dreaded cabinets… And since it’s a rental I just don’t know if that’s going to happen! I can’t wait to see your cabinets! Is it gel stain or paint? Sounds exciting! Good luck!

What’s the paint color? It’s the kitchen with green cabinets, white knobs, black counter tops. Some cabinets have glass doors. I want to do this. Please help me out. Thanks

      Hi Glenda,
My kitchen has red counters so I’m not sure which kitchen you’re referring to. I’d love to help but the house we’re in is a rental so I don’t know the color of the cabinets that we do have! Best of luck!
