Y’all I have been so busy deciding on my new planner system for next year that I’ve hardly had the time to work on anything else… eating, sleeping, cleaning, decorating. If you’ve been reading my posts you know I am right in the middle of a move which means we’ve got to get back on track!
Since I included a cleaning checklist in my brand new moving planner I decided to sit down and think about how often I should be cleaning everything. Going from a full time job to working from home means re-thinking our cleaning schedule.
Right now it’s kind of clean-everything-as-often-as-possible-and-pretend-you-don’t-see-the-mess so we definitely need a new plan to keep everything at least a little clean.
Cleanish?
Once you read through the post I’ve included a FREE printable cleaning checklist at the bottom of the post… don’t forget to grab your FREE prinable before you go!
Every Day:
- Make Bed
- Sweep Kitchen Floors
- Clean Dirty Dishes
- Wipe Down Kitchen Counters & Table
- Do Laundry (as needed)
- Clean Coffeemaker
- Wipe Down Bathroom Surfaces
- Sanitize Kitchen & Bathroom Sinks
Right now these things are getting done every couple weeks… I think the last time my microwave was cleaned was months ago. And that might be conservative.

Every Week:
- Mop Kitchen & Bathroom Floors
- Scrub Bathroom Surfaces
- Clean Mirrors
- Dust Furniture
- Vacuum your Floors & Furniture
- Change Bedding
- Toss Expired Food
- Wipe Down Kitchen Appliances
- Clean Inside of Microwave
- Sanitize Sponges
Yes people vacuum their vents. I try to do it when we switch out our air filter but I’m not always successful… it just gets so dusty!! I’ve got to get better about that.
On the upside we don’t have a dishwasher so I don’t have to clean that!
On the downside we don’t have a dishwasher…
Every Month:
- Vacuum Vents & Woodwork
- Dust & Clean Light Fixtures
- Dust Blinds
- Clean your Dishwasher, Laundry Machines & Vacuum
Some of these are suggestions from friends, my Mama, Pinterest… I mean I definitely don’t clean clean my shower curtain liner.
Do you?
Should I start? I think I should start!! How do you even clean a shower curtain liner…
Every 3-6 Months:
- Wipe Down Inside of Fridge
- Clean Kitchen Range Hood
- Wash Shower Curtain Liner
- Clean Under & Behind Furniture
- Clean Patio/Deck Surfaces & Furniture
- Wash Pillows & Comforters
- Vacuum Mattress
- Freshen Drains & Garbage Disposal
- Clean Inside of Oven
- Clean out Freezer
I don’t have a fireplace but we definitely clean our carpet once a year. Now we just have to start regularly cleaning around our dryer… I think that could be important!
Every Year:
- Clean Fireplace & Chimney
- Deep Clean Carpet & Upholstery
- Deep Clean Windows
- Clean Around Dryer & Vents
- Clean Drapes & Curtains
- Clean Out Gutters

Thanks a ton Betsy!
WOW! Your house is so clean Betsy.
Though I do routine cleanups but have never thought of following a cleaning schedule. You’ve changed my mind. I’ll start with your cleaning schedule and make adjustments accordingly.
