Holiday Traditions: A Frosty Friend Christmas

Holiday Traditions: A Frosty Friend Christmas

Hey y'all

Ever since I was a little girl I absolutely adored Christmas. The twinkling lights, the fancy trees… the entire Christmas atmosphere. One of my favorite holiday traditions was always the Hallmark ornaments sitting under the tree!

You see, Mom is a Hallmark fanatic! It all started 30 years ago when a little tiny Eskimo made his debut appearance in the first Frosty Friends ornament. Mom fell in love back then and hasn’t stopped collecting Frosty Friends ornaments ever since!

Each and every year Mom puts up our great big family tree in the living room, a 7 foot Santa tree in the hall, a gorgeous gold tree in the dining room… and my favorite… a Frosty Friends tree in the office. Since the series started back in 1980 Mom has collected every single ornament!

I don’t remember how old I was when I realized that every year there was a new shiny Frosty Friends ornament under the tree! Mom has always loved Hallmark and Frosty Friends are her all time favorites… ever since they first started in 1980! Over 30 years of ornaments and Mom has every single one!

A fun little ornament soon became a Holiday tradition! Mom collected a new Hallmark ornament every year and soon her collection grew… now it takes up an entire 5 foot tree on it’s own. Each year we have so much fun waiting to see what the little Eskimo’s will be up to… and this year was no exception! The 2015 ornament shows a little Frosty liberating a tiny fish from the ice… I love the detail on this little guy! I mean just look at that little tiny ice saw!

All of the Frosty’s are on the tree in chronological order… starting at the top and winding around the tree from 1980 to 2015! Mom carefully organizes each ornament into a basket based on year… which makes it super easy to decorate the tree! Bitty even got into the decorating this year… keeping a watchful eye over the baskets while Mom and I decorate the tree!

I think the Frosty’s are my favorite because I was born in Alaska! So these little guys are near and dear to my heart! Plus I love the way the light sparkles and dances around all the fake white snow!

The Frosty Friends have even started to make little table top decorations… like this little Frosty in his sleigh! When you press the button the Reindeer gallops while Frosty’s sleigh bobs up and down… all to the tune of “Here Comes Santa Claus!” It’s so cute!

Of course Mom isn’t the only one with a Hallmark obsession! Once she started collecting we all got in on the fun… at very young ages my brother and I each picked our very own series to collect. I picked Mary’s Angels, while the Little Bro picked “Decades of Fun!.” So far my little Angels only take up a little 3 foot tree… but one day I’ll catch up to Mom and have a whole Mary’s Angel’s tree of my own!

Daddy loves trains… so he has the Hallmark Lionel Trains series and the Puppy Love series! The little dogs are always so cute!

Mom and I made a day of our Hallmark shopping this year… we had lunch out and then hit the mall in Dothan for our Hallmark fix! The ornaments are always easy to find at the entrance of the store but sometimes finding individual ornaments are can be tricky since they are so many of them!

Of course the employees are always so friendly! Barbara and Rachel were sweet enough to help us find all of our ornaments and go through Mom’s massive list of coupons! Don’t you just love gals like that?

I can’t wait to set up my Angel tree… I’ll have to show y’all when it’s done! What about y’all… do you have a special ornament that you collect? Any favorite holiday traditions? Which Hallmark series is your favorite?

My mom is Hallmark fanatic too and I love the character that they give to our family tree. We get a variety of ornaments from her, but your collection of Frosty ornaments is really cool.

Thanks for stopping by and linking up with the Celebrate Your Story party.
