Yesterday I found a new website called Decorist (which actually seems pretty cool) but the point is that the first step on Decorist is to take a quiz to determine your decor style. I’ve taken lots of “decor style” quizzes… I don’t know why but I’m always curious to see what my “style” is defined as. Maybe because I don’t have one true style?
The Decorist quiz let’s you pick different pieces for a room… a couch, rug, lamp, side-table, coffee table, wall color and mirror. Then at the end of your little room design it tells you which “style” you fit into. This is where things get tricky… I was told my design style was eclectic modern.
Eclectic I completely agree with… modern not so much! In fact I was a little worried until I took a look at their styles… the only options are Modern, Modern-Eclectic, Traditional-Eclectic, Eclectic and Traditional! Not that many options to choose from! Definitely not the Eclectic French Rustic Glam vibe I typically go for! 😉
Of course once I got the quiz bug I just couldn’t stop! Next up was the Style Guide from Raymour and Flanigan! This quiz was different than the first… it asked me to pick which picture I liked from a set of four pictures. For example it would show four dining rooms and I would pick my favorite one! At the end of this quiz I was told my style was casual! Which is neither modern or eclectic!
I can see how my style is reflected of all three styles though. I like to mix and match different styles like the “eclectic” style and I like to mix the a statement piece or bold color into the overall look of my room… just like modern. Of course being comfortable is the most important so I suppose that is where casual fits in. Still not hitting my specific eclectic rustic glam french vibe on the nose though.
Let’s try another test 😉
This one is from Houzz and it’s similar to the second quiz from Raymour and Flanigan in the style of questions. The main difference is that while the second quiz showed pictures this quiz asked questions…. and they weren’t necessarily home decor based. One of the questions asked what type of drink was my favorite! Since Diet Coke is never an option I always have to pick something I don’t truly love… so I’m not sure how accurate this test really is ;)! Trust me… anything that thinks I like Iced Tea more than Diet Coke is not on my same wave length!
Now Houzz says I’m traditional! I can’t argue this one though… the tufted chair and rolled arms are spot on! Blues are pretty accurate as well… but we all know how much I dislike wood tones. Yuck!
The one thing all of these quizzes have in common is the comfort factor… I suppose that means I love to be comfortable! Now that’s one “style” I can get behind… I really hate to be cramped or uneasy! And my home? That’s the one place I should be most comfortable.
Finally a style I can get behind! Better Homes and Gardens says I’m completely French Country! I’m starting to fit all the style pieces together now… this is the gilded glam piece. Think gorgeous silver and gold detailing, fleur-de-lis, gorgeous chandeliers and crystals. All of those amazing little details that push a piece over the top! That’s the absolute icing on any cake… I mean room! The Better Homes and Gardens quiz was a series of “pick your favorite color grouping” and “which shoe is your favorite”. So it felt fairly accurate!
Last of the five quizzes I took was HomeGoods. This quiz had me pick 5 pictures out of a large grid. I picked a blue and white umbrella, a diamond, a pink waterlily, an antique ampersand, and a strand of pearls.
And the result? Farmhouse Glam! This might be my one of my favorite styles… I love how gorgeous farmhouse glam looks… and how comfy it is ;). Regardless of the style result I think HomeGoods was my favorite quiz maker. While the other sites were fun and provided a little blurb about each style do you see everything HomeGoods gives you? A guide to styling farmhouse glam, a gift guide, pinterest inspiration… and my favorite part. Who is blogging Farmhouse Glam! Miss Mustard Seed and Perfectly Imperfect and the two blogs that I have been following the longest… Miss Mustard Seed was actually my inspiration to start blogging!
So what do you think y’all… should I start classifying my style as eclectic modern casual traditional french country farmhouse glam? It’s kind of a mouthful! EMCTFCFG for short? Ha! While each quiz gave me a different answer threading each piece together kind of works for me… I use a bit of each one to make my own unique style.
Yup, I think I’ll stick with Eclectic French Rustic Glam… I think it encompasses everything!
So what about you? What’s your decor style? Is it what the quizzes tell you?
