Whenever I go out with friends I am ALWAYS the one found snapping pictures… I just love to save those memories! The laughter, the fun, all of the good times… that means I have A LOT of pictures! Of course there are the serious pictures… like our wedding photos or the ones from my hubby’s first college graduation. Those go in beautiful frames and I smile each time I go by them… but what to do with the silly pictures? The ones with the goofy faces and funny poses, the snow fights and crazy ideas! Those moments are just as important to me.
So while I have my fair share of picture frames, scrapbooks, and picture albums one of my favorite ways to display photos are my picture collages. With a bit of string and miniature clothes-pins you can turn any frame into a collage! Isn’t that fun?

The whole point of a collage is to stuff as many pictures together as possible… color outside the lines a little bit! I love to see all the fun moments… and the frame helps contain them, so they don’t look like a giant mess!
In order to make your very own picture collage simply pick a frame: big or small… size doesn’t matter but the bigger the frame the more pictures you will be able to include! Once you’ve chosen a frame open it up where the picture would normally go is your background. You can leave it blank or add a bit of scrapbook paper for pattern! Whatever you choose will be visible behind your pictures so make it fun!
Now take your string and wind it around the glass, your scrapbook paper and the backing of your frame. Make a nice little picture sandwich! Wind the string horizontally so that your clothespins will be able to clip on, the more string you use the more places you will have to clip pictures but your frame still needs to close so be careful! You may want to tape your string down in the back so that it doesn’t shift around when you are putting your frame back together.
Once your frame is in one piece take your pictures and start to arrange them! Use different sizes and pictures from different days and activities for interest… really have fun with it. Now you’re done! This is such a quick and easy picture frame collage but my favorite part is that it captures the little moments, the ones that aren’t blown up and placed in a frame or stretched on a canvas. The little things… that are just as important.

I actually have an entire post in the works for vintage sheet music and newspapers! I’m thinking a wreath but there are a couple other ideas rolling around in my mind. Good luck and check back soon!
