So everyone keeps asking if we’re settled into our new house yet… and I have to look at the floor and mumble under my breath when I say no. The truth is we haven’t even opened a box (other than the one with shampoo in it!). Why you ask? Well because before I can open boxes and put things away… before pictures can go up on the wall and decorations can be placed… we have to paint!
I know people spend lots of time picking the perfect paint color… trust me I’m an Assistant Manager at Sherwin Williams… I know EXACTLY how long it takes some people to pick out paint 😉 . But because I am around paint colors all the time I was able to pick my colors fairly quick… in just one day! I was very proud of myself.

When we moved in the house was already painted this gorgeous light yellow chiffon (sw6686). It’s a gorgeous light buttery yellow that looks perfect in larger rooms like the living room. Really anywhere with natural light it looks beautiful… but I noticed it looked a little funky in the smaller rooms where the only lighting we had was the florescent overheads.
We called our landlord and received permission to paint “a couple rooms”. Well our kitchen, office and hallway are all connected so we decided to paint all three areas the same color, and then to tackle the master bedroom as well. I am trying to convince my hubby to let me paint my craft room as well but he thinks that’s more than “a couple rooms”. I guess we’ll see how it goes!
We decided to paint the kitchen, hallway and office a neutral gray… since this is the majority of the house. We wanted a light color since our hallway is fairly dark with no windows but a color that was still dark enough to hold it’s own since the light yellow in our living room is sooooo light. We decided to go with online (sw7072). We haven’t started on it yet but I think it will be beautiful!
For the master bedroom we wanted a light blue/teal/seafoam color. Our bedspread is mainly teal while our dressers and rug are a light gray. We didn’t want to overwhelm the room with gray so we decided to go with a blueish hue… although it couldn’t be too blue or the seafoam/teal would look off kilter! Haha! This paint color was definitley the hardest to pick… but it was also the room we painted first and I LOVE how it turned out.
My husband just sits in there saying “I love the walls!” over and over!
We decided to go with silver mist (sw7621) at 25% strength… so it’s very light. It’s a fun color because in certain lights it looks seafoam while at other times it looks grey or icy blue… it really depends on what you pair it with. I am ubber pleased with how it turned out. I can’t wait to get the rest of the room together!
So far I am in love with the colors we picked: silver mist, online and lemon chiffon. That’s a pretty good mix! We painted large poster boards and put them up the room over night to make sure we liked them… I’ve purchased enough paint to know that just because you like a pint color in the store doesn’t mean it will be the same color in your lighting at home! Remember the dresser incident?
I am hoping that after all the online painting is finished I will be able to talk the hubby into painting my craft room. HGTV by Sherwin Williams has come out with a new line of colors that I LOVE! Check this out.
I don’t know why but I just LOVE that Plum Dandy! The picture doesn’t even start living up to the chip in real life! Short of being such a bright color I might try Temperate Taupe or Emerging Taupe… that light blush color would be stunning. What about y’all… what’s your favorite color?

This is a timely post! We bought our home 2.5 years ago and we’re still “fixing ‘er up”! My son is busily organizing his room right now because we’re repainting it for a summer project and then we’ll be putting hardwoods in the bedrooms. I’m excited and searching for deals. But we’re looking for paint colors today!

Love your choices! I’ve been in my house almost 3 years and I still have a hallway in desperate need of paint (like seriously, the white hole filling stuff the previous owners used to patch their nail holes is still there) and I am thinking of re-doing my bedroom because it’s just not working at all! Love the Silvermist color a lot!

Silvermist is such a pretty color! We did it at 25% so it’s just barely there… which works great in our room! I know it’s a pain but you should totally paint… I forgot what a difference it makes until I peeled the tape off the wall to look at the new color! Love it!

I am considering using Online in my son’s small bedroom. I am worried it might be too dark with the room size, so I’m considering using it at 50% or so. Do you think this could work? Thanks!
Happily Ever After, Etc. says
Kay, definitely try it at 50% if you’re unsure… You can always go darker but going lighter is hard! Just paint out a swatch of the 50% before deciding. We have online in our office, hallway and kitchen. The hallway is tiny and doesn’t look too dark so I love it! Good luck!

Thank you! I never saw your reply, so I just posted again lol.

I saw that! Haha… you had me thinking I hadn’t responded or something! If you want a closer look you can see the online color in my kitchen here. There’s a big window in the kitchen (aka sliding glass door) so take that into consideration but we also have the online color in our hallway where there are no windows are it still looks stellar!

Hi! I was wondering how the color Online turned out? I want to use it in my son’s small bedroom. The room has three windows, so on sunny days it’s quite bright in there. In just worried about closing the room in with too dark of a color. There’s also the option of using it at 75%, but I don’t know how I feel about changing it. Thanks for any insight!
