If you’ve been here for a minute you know that I love Christmas and all things Holiday decorating! And while I’ve been decorating with a lot more pink and rose gold lately (both of my trees were rose gold last year! The one in the living room and the one in my bedroom!) this year I decided to incorporate a bit sea foam into the color scheme to incorporate my new fitz and floyd holiday plates.
And once my pretty pink and sea foam tree was up I KNEW it was the perfect base for one of my all time favorite Holiday collections… my Mary’s Angels from Hallmark. These little babies started being made in 1988 and I was born a year later in 1989. My mom loves Hallmark and has a tradition that each member of our family is given a Hallmark collection each year… and as a little girl I thought these angels were magical. So Mom started to get them for me as a child and each and every year I had a little 3 or 4 foot tree decked out with these angels in my room.
I LOVED them. They were pastel and pretty and everything I thought Christmas should be… but more importantly they were mine. My mom collected the Frosty Friends Collection (don’t worry I took photos of her Frosty Friends tree a few years ago so you can see it here), my little brother picked the the sweet decade collection and my Dad couldn’t pick just one so every year he gets a Puppy Love ornament and a train from the Lionel Locomotives collection.
Either way after a while my little angels grew too large of a collection for a 3-4 foot tree and I started looking for a larger tree for them. I still haven’t found the perfect tree for a permanent home but like I said earlier… this years pink and sea foam Christmas tree was the perfect base for my little angels. And if that’s not a big enough draw I’m joining 20 other amazing home decor bloggers to share as many different trees as possible… so if you’re here from checking out Angela’s Woodland Themed Tree I hope you enjoy my little angels as well.
Just take a look!
I actually picked up this pretty flocked tree at last year’s after Christmas sale… and it might be the prettiest Christmas tree I’ve ever owned. I’ve been looking for a “grown up” tree for many years now and this is definitely it. It’s also the biggest tree I’ve ever owned which became very obvious when I put it up this year… I didn’t have nearly enough decorations to fill it up!
So instead of going crazy buying a multitude or ornaments I stuck with a few strands of pretty pom pom and sequined garland that I’ve been eyeing for the last few years and LARGE ornaments that would take up a lot of space and were *shatterproof*. I have 2 new puppies this year so the shatterproof was very important.
Technically these large 6″ ornaments are outdoor ornaments so I’ll be able to replace them over the years with prettier (more expensive) ornaments and move them outside… maybe to fill up these fun front porch present boxes I built a few years ago.
Then I filled in even more space with pretty feather picks I bought last year and a few fun new vintage inspired ornaments that I found out shopping with mom. A few strands of garland and pretty green shimmer ribbon filled the rest of the tree out and since garland and ribbon is also un-breakable (ok maybe not un-breakable… not glass) they’re definitely better for this year’s puppy proof Christmas.
My last touch for this year’s puppy proof Christmas? A hammered copper tree collar! I learned last year that tree collars are sooooo much easier with dogs and cats than tree skirts. Which is sad because I have a beautiful faux fur tree skirt hanging in my closet waiting to be used… but I’m pretty sure Princess and Lady would destroy a faux fur tree skirt so we’ll keep that put away for a few more years. Or put it behind closed doors in my office. Either way.

More Info: While I tried to use direct links for the supplies I used some of my items are no longer in stock so I’ve linked to similar products where necessary. Also… for my 7.5 foot tall, 5 foot wide I needed 6 strands of the champagne bead garland, 10 strands of the pink pom pom garland, 2 rolls of the 2.5″ wide ribbon and 2 rolls of the smaller 1.5″ wide ribbon. Hope that helps!
I would also like to point out how pretty this little tree topper is! I was afraid it would be to small on such a large tree but it actually snuggled in just fine. Although you could always add a few picks behind it to beef it up.
Either way I just wanted to point out that while Mary’s Angels is mostly a collectable ornament series Hallmark has put out a few other components over the years: mainly this tree topper and a little table top decoration (that I do have but haven’t put out yet! Check back for the full house tour to see where it ends up). Either way this little tree topper is so cute.
It actually was released in 2006 when I was a junior in high school and I can remember my Mom asking if I wanted it… there have been several special releases over the years and sometimes I wanted them and sometimes I didn’t. This one was a bit more than a normal ornament but it was still inexpensive so I said I wanted it… and now I’m so glad I did. It really rounds out the tree and it’s selling for waaay more than it was originally. I think it was about $30 back in 2006 and now it’s anywhere from 150 to 200. Which is crazy.
Even if it does make the tree!
Although if I had one complaint about this entire series it’s that the angels are all accented with gold instead of rose gold… but knowing that they were originally designed in 1988 the gold makes sense. They would just be so much prettier in copper!
I hope you liked this little trip down memory lane and the way my tree came out this year. I am absolutely OBSESSED with the pink and sea foam combination… and I can’t wait to share the blush and mint tablescape that goes with it! I might just have to keep my Hallmark Mary’s Angel ornaments on a dining room tree from now on since I’m pretty sure this is a match made in heaven.
Since it’s going to be a few days before that blush and mint fitz and floyd table is done you can spend your days going through allllll of these pretty trees instead! That should keep you occupied for at least a couple minutes! I’ve participated in this little blog hop for the last few years and it’s always amazing to see what these talented ladies create. Michelle from Our Crafty Mom is always the host and she does a fabulous job!
