The month of August has been completely crazy around here! I started a little thing called the Welcome Home Wednesday Linky Party with a group of blog friends… if you hang out around here you’ll see us partying every Wednesday at 7am CST. On top of that we have BIG plans for the month of September… a few changes around the blog, a brand new monthly challenge (more about that later… we’re still working out the kinks!) and a blogoversary to plan for! September is going to be crazy!
I really can’t wait for all of the exciting plans to shape up around here… I’ve got great content and fun collaborations with other bloggers! September is going to be a blast! But it’s not September yet (we’ve still got a couple hours!) so before we turn the page let’s take a look at all the fabulous posts from August! Shall we?

11 Non-Traditional Bedside Tables! – I love to see a blank canvas like this… it really gets the wheels turning! I think I’ll tackle a mood board for her room like the one I did for my friend Karlie a while back! They’re so much fun to make… even if they’re only within my head Today however Joy’s plea for affordable side tables caught my attention… so I thought I would put together a couple options… read more!
A Vintage Suitcase Makeover! – If you’re anything like me you are loving the vintage suitcase trend that’s going on right now. I tend to be drawn towards anything that contains things (read as: stores all my crap out of sight) so vintage suitcases are perfect for me! In addition to larger suitcases I have found adorable children’s suitcases, hat boxes… even a vintage bowling ball bag! The key (for me) is finding that perfect colored bag… the one that looks amazing with all the rest of my pretty things … read more!
How to Pick Your YOU Decorating Style! – I read so many posts about how to “classify” your design style… is it French Country? Is it Elegant and Refined? How about… is it YOU?! While I have so many qualifications when it comes to purchasing décor (something red and metallic probably won’t end up in my house!) my number one stipulation is… is it something I LOVE! … read more!
How to Organize Your Kitchen! – If you follow me on Instagram you know we had a fabulous weekend at the beach! It was my hubby’s first time on the sand in 15 years… so we had a complete blast! It’s Wednesday now so it’s back to the grind! Which (for us) means back to unpacking! The hubby has developed a system for unloading the boxes… it goes like this: unpack all the boxes and put all the stuff EVERYWHERE! It’s actually a pretty good system… except that I’m suppose to be the second round hitter coming behind him and putting things away!
He just finished the living room and this week we are moving on to the kitchen… which means I need to get a kitchen game plan together quick! So today I thought I would share all the fun kitchen organization tips and tricks I’ve found! Let’s see which ones make the final cut and appear in our bright green and red Christmas kitchen! … read more!
Guest Room Mood Board… for Joy! – So you know that person who totally creeps on over, checks out your blog and then makes a mood board for your already awesome guest room? Yup I’m the creeper! And the victim? Joy from the Accidental House Blog! She was such a good sport when I used her first post as inspiration for my super awesome 11 non-traditional bed side tables post… I think the terms blogging bestie might have been tossed about.
Either way she posted a super cute reveal on her blog earlier this week for the entire guest room… and while I love what she’s done with the place, I already had this little baby whipped up! Let’s see if we can take things one step past awesome, shall we? Think… extra super awesome! … read more!

Ask Sherwin-Williams… What are the Most Popular Paint Colors? – I’ve mentioned a time or two that I work at Sherwin Williams right? Yup I’ve mentioned it a lot… honestly I need to have a whole Sherwin Williams tab on this blog! I suppose that’s what happens when you’re into home decor and you work at a paint store… work kind of goes home with you. Literally… I come home most days covered in paint!
Working at Sherwin Williams I get asked twenty times a day “What’s your most popular paint color?” or “What color do you sell the most of?” I spend many hours helping DIY guys and gals pick out colors for their homes… and so do my fellow Sherwin Williams employees! So I thought today we’d take a poll… to see which colors really are the most popular! … read more!
An EASY Gift for the Whole Family! – You know me… I’m always up for a good craft and this one? It’s no exception! While I love traditional pictures I have really been loving the whole three-dimensional thing going on lately… canvas pictures? Hello! Awesome! So when I saw these little wooden blocks I knew exactly what I was going to do with them! … read more!
How to be a Rebel… Decorating Rules to Break! – Last week I was so excited to share a post a certain little post called Ask Sherwin-Williams… What are the Most Popular Paint Colors! Working in a paint store I spend every day answering the question “what color do people buy the most of” and the answer is always Kilim Beige. For me, that post was about the most popular colors… not which colors I personally love! In fact beige is one color I would never paint… if I had my way it wouldn’t even be a color anymore! Give me a gorgeous grey, fabulous blue or amazing pink any day… now those colors are my jam! I guess I’m just a rule breaker that way!
So today, in honor of our best friend beige, I thought we would talk about 4 decorating “rules” I just love to break! … read more!
Happy National Thrift Store Swap Day! – Happy National Thrift Store Day! I’d love to tell you that I was spending the day cruising around with the hubby… hitting every single thrift store in a 30 mile radius! Unfortunately I’m stuck at work… maybe I can pop out on my lunch break for a quick run into the shop around the corner! Yes I am lucky enough to work right around the corner from (several!) thrift stores… yes it does get me in LOTS of trouble! Haha!
Either way I thought I would celebrate this national holiday by doing one of my favorite things… working on my latest Thrift Store Swap project! The first swap was such a success we’ve decided to do four swaps a year… and the second swap is quickly approaching! … read more!
A Reverse Bucket List! – Over the years I’ve been slowly working away at my bucket list… checking things off and all that jazz! Although I still haven’t managed to finish an entire tube of chapstick… those pesky little tubes always go missing! So last week when I saw the reverse bucket list trend start to pop up (I think I read 4 blog posts last week about the good old reverse bucket list!) I knew this was one bandwagon I was DEFINITELY jumping on … read more!
The Man Behind the Blog: Take 6! – Welcome back for another fun rendition of Man Behind the Blog! This month is my favorite so far… because it’s all about weddings! Betsy Gettis from Heavens to Betsy (my name twin) and the host of this little monthly series is getting married THIS week! Isn’t that crazy? I can remember our wedding day like it was yesterday… although it was only a year ago so it’s still fresh in my memory! The hubby still looks wistfully off into the distance and says “I wish it was still our wedding day… that was such a good day”. I Hope Betsy and her fiance have a beautiful wedding and a day filled with laughter… read more!
A Japanese Nursery Mood Board! – Today I have a super cute inspiration board for my friend Sam from DIY Just Cuz. Sam posted an adorable reveal of her girly Japanese nursery reveal a couple months ago. I absolutely loved her unique Japanese theme… the cherry blossoms and pandas were just so cute! After seeing her nursery pictures I was struck by inspiration to see if there was a way to incorporate more toy storage into the room for her little Japanese cherry blossom… read more!
And that’s it for the August Round Up! Now I can’t wait for September… it seems like each month gets better and better around here!
