When you get married life changes, big time. Building a new life with someone is difficult in a lot of ways: you have to learn how to make decisions as a couple, find ways to communicate effectively, balance work and home. Find time for your friends and family and learn not to nag when he’s left his pants on the bathroom floor for the third time in two days.
Trust me I’ve been there! This May my hubby and I will celebrate our third year of marriage so we’re still newlyweds in many ways, still learning to navigate the land of the in-laws, learning how to speak the other persons love language… all the fun little things you learn while living life day to day with another person.
Of course, the one thing we didn’t have to learn was how to put a home together. Growing up as a military brat I’ve seen how it’s done a million times… my mom is literally the expert on moving. So I put together a little present for you… a list of every thing you’ll need to make your new house a home.
No it isn’t a list of the basics either… sure you’ll find a toaster in the kitchen section and towels for your bathroom but I’ve tried to make the list as comprehensive as possible: subscription services, outdoor items, tools, cleaning supplies, entertainment & lifestyle! The full monty!
Take a look!
When we moved into our first home we were completely set on wall art and furniture… I have been working on my new home for years. Since I was sixteen and bought my first piece of furniture. Of course, we had lived in apartments for several years before we finally moved to LA (that’s lower Alabama for all of y’all who don’t live here in sweet home Alabama!) and started renting our first home.
So while we had a bit of experience decorating an apartment we had ZERO experience with keeping up a new home. We didn’t know about changing out air filters or keeping a lawn mower covered. Heck we didn’t even own a rake!
All of these little things add up when you’re moving into your new home… instead of being overwhelmed just print off these babies… you’ll be able to see the full list of what you need and determine your very own master list! No one wants their brand new lawn mower to be waterlogged… trust me!
Whether you’re a newlywed setting up your first home or moving from a house you’ve loved for many years to start a new adventure these pages will help you to set up your hew home.
I hope you have a wonderful time checking off all the boxes as you fill your home with love and necessities. I love walking into a room and seeing all the things I’ve carefully picked out to love… I hope you have just as much fun!
